Logitech goes after Stream Deck with MX Creative Console

Logitech is expanding its line of digital creator peripherals with the MX Creative Console, a Stream Deck-like setup for Mac to help in imaging and video production workflows.

While the keyboard and mouse are the usual tools of digital creators, peripherals have been introduced over time that promise to improve workflows. Following devices like the Elgato Stream Deck and the Loupedeck series, Logitech is offering its own take, in the form of the MX Creative Console.

A two-part system, the MX Creative Console consists of a Keypad and a DialPad. The Keypad is similar in concept to the Stream Deck, in that it is a compact keyboard with nine full-color LCD display keys.

The LCD display keys, operating at up to 600 nits of brightness, are designed to change the image based on what application the user's using. These can be programmed to perform macros or specific tasks in apps.

There are two paging buttons that let you switch between up to 15 pages of customizable actions available per application.

The second part, the Tactile Dialpad, is a similar square unit that has a large low-carbon aluminum dial, with a tailored friction bearing. It also has an advanced roller and four customizable buttons, making it useful as a control for things like navigating a video timeline in an editor.

While the Keypad connects over a USB-C 2.0 cable, the Dialpad uses Bluetooth LE or a Logi Bolt dongle. Powered by two AAA batteries, it will run for up to 18 months before needing new batteries.

The companion app, Logi Options+, is used to manage the controls, as well as enabling a graphical screen overlay called the Logi Actions Ring.

Working with many Adobe Creative Cloud applications using tailored plugins, the package also includes a three-month All Apps membership to the Adobe suite.

The system requirements on Mac include hardware running macOS 13 or later, a USB-C port, and Bluetooth LE support.

Shipping in October in a choice of Pale Grey and Graphite, the Logitech MX Creative Console is priced at $199.99.

    It would be neat if Apple were to integrate some kind of LED based app-context-sensitive keys right into their keyboards, maybe a row way up at the top or something...

    I assume you're making a joke...since Apple had the Touch Bar from 2016 to 2021... I loved it, but it was clearly not successful in the market.

    It's worth noting that Logitech acquired Loupedeck last year.
