Ticketmaster claims to be the first ticketing firm to support how Apple Wallet displays key event information in iOS 18.

Among features such as rewards balances, Apple Wallet in iOS 18 has also added new features specifically intended for event tickets. Now Ticketmaster has announced support for the updated wallet, starting with the Los Angeles Football Club's home game on October 19, 2024.

"With the new, enhanced ticket in Apple Wallet experience, fans are closer to the action from the moment they add their pass to their iPhone," said Mark Yovich, Ticketmaster President. "We're extremely proud to work with Apple to bring this enhanced ticketing experience to fans."

The aim of the new features is to surface key information and have it available to event goers. The information Ticketmaster will support are:

  • Map of the venue

  • Parking details

  • Weather forecasts

  • Quick access to location sharing

Where relevant, the Ticketmaster event entry in Apple Wallet will also display a related Apple Music playlist.

That's one element that depends on the event, but there are more. Sports teams and event venues are able to add website or app links to the ticket.

Following the Los Angeles Football Club, the Miami HEAT will be the next event to support the features via Ticketmaster. The company says that "the experience will be made more widely available in 2025."

Apple's iOS 18 update to Apple Wallet follow the company's addition in 2023 of features that are exclusive to the UK.

Recently in my travels, there have been a number of museums I visited that use the GetYourGuide app.
It seems similar to what Ticketmaster is attempting to do.

Ticketmaster/Live Nation. Now there’s a monopoly that needs to be torn asunder.

My favorite was when Ticketmaster required a fee to print the tickets on your own printer, yet there was no other way to get the tickets.

Isn't Ticketmaster the company that has secured exclusive ticket rights to almost every venue in the U.S., blocking every other vendor, including the performers, from selling tickets?

    Yeah, no.
