Apple Music has named Billie Eilish its 2024 Artist of the Year, highlighting a year of achievements for the singer-songwriter. Her third album, Hit Me Hard And Soft, earned widespread acclaim. The album topped Apple Music's all-genre chart in 138 countries.

Eilish's influence in 2024 went beyond her music. Her song What Was I Made For? from the Barbie movie soundtrack earned her an Academy Award and two additional Grammys. She also performed Birds of a Feather at the summer games' closing ceremony, making headlines and driving record Shazam activity.

Her sold-out Hit Me Hard And Soft tour extends her success into 2025.

Eilish is the first artist to receive Apple Music's Artist of the Year award twice, having previously won in 2019. Apple Music's Rachel Newman praised her growth, noting how her artistry continues to resonate with fans worldwide. Eilish expressed her gratitude, acknowledging Apple Music's long-standing support.

"Since day one, Apple Music has supported my music and artistry, and I am both honored and humbled to receive this recognition as Artist of the Year this many years into my career," Billie told Apple Music.

Fans can revisit her catalog in Spatial Audio on Apple Music, alongside playlists celebrating the songs and artists that defined 2024.

I don’t care for her vocal style. It sounds pouty and infantile to my ear. I might be a grumpy old man

    you are, as am I😏

but it’s better than bowing down to @TaylorSwift and her terrible actor and boy toy TK…

celebrity worship has become a money grubbing enterprise that keeps the general populist poor and sedate…

truly sick of ex pro sports figures invading us with their phony money grubbing endorsements, bombarding u.s. with mostly unhealthy products Should a $20million dollar a year athlete really make millions more while their fans empty their wallets???

thanks for reading the rant, since I am off social media, so that I don’t see that orange fat faced nazi criminal as much as possible-quit watching the news-I needed to get it out…

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and to all a good night😉

Some of her earlier hits were made when she was 15-17 years old:

Her vocals on other tracks sound more mature, she won an Oscar for each of these:

She is a very accomplished singer for someone so young, she's only 22 now.

Yeah, I know her CV. Doesn't change how her vocal style sounds to my ear.

I don't think it's a function of her age, I think it's a choice she makes. I don't care for the choice, that's all. But there are clearly tons of people who like it. DJT also sounds pouty and infantile to my ear (albeit in a somewhat different way), and he's a lot older. But clearly lots of people apparently like him, too (and I know his CV, too).

I'm just here to say everyone is wrong, and they both suck.

I can't stand the affectation she employs as a singing style. That she was chosen to mumble the title song for No Time to Die was beyond disappointing. It's fortunate that it's easy to avoid her music.

Still beats all the country artists who fake twang their vocals.

"Dude, you're from around here - we don't have that accent!"

That doesn't make me relish Eilish one bit. I don't do country but I don't remember the last time I couldn't understand the singers words. Those that are faking the "twang" are at least imitating a traditional style that is easily understood in comparison. There may be someone somewhere wanting to copy her style but I really doubt it will ever be a genre.

Great artist. I love her work. My eighty year old mother loves her work too. 😀

Jimmy Hendrix couldn’t sign for sh*t. His songs are somehow even better for it.

Years ago, Pat Benatar brought a highly trained, operatic voice to pop music.  I thought it sucked, gave me a headache.
