To me the issue is more like we have these old geezers in Congress that don't even know how to turn the god damn smartphone or computer on let alone use one properly. And these are the same people who think they know better than the majority of the citizens they're supposed to be representing. These are the same dipshits asking the stupid ass questions in a Congressional hearing like "Does TikTok access the home WiFi"? The person asking this had absolutely no friggin' clue what he was asking and didn't know what he was talking about in the slightest. And that's just one of many examples.
This country seriously needs a term limit on congress seats and possibly even a max age. This shouldn't be a career for people. These people should be in congress for a set amount of time and then they let someone else take the reins to represent their district. And sure, you'll get a bad egg in every one in a while but at least it's only for a short amount of time and then they'll leave and someone else can take their place. As technology gets more and more advanced in the future and our society changes over time we need a younger more competent group of people to make better informed decisions not only for technology but in general as a whole. What may have worked in 1950 when these people came into office doesn't necessarily mean it'll work in 2025, 2030 or 2040. Things have changed so much as well as our society.
The real question is how this will impact Apple’s phone sales if TikTok goes dark permanently. What are your thoughts?
If TikTok were an iPhone exclusive or if it were an App that benefited or required the latest hardware then there might be an impact. But neither of those are the case and it isn’t like TikTok is a driver for people to buy smartphones wildly popular? Sure. Sole reason people are buying phones? Nope.
Other than suspicions has anyone ever delivered actual proof of any PRC security violations involving TikTok? Relying on Trump, the originator of the entire jihad, is sAd.
PRC is a total dictatorship that maintains an adversarial stand against the West. Even if the PRC is not tapping into the TikTok network and database right now, there is no institutional roadblock, such as an independent judiciary, that would stop Dictator Xi if he decides that he wants data from TikTok.
China doesn't allow US-based social apps to conduct business in China because he doesn't trust the NSA and CIA. Why should we trust Chinese social apps then, given that the Chinese security apparatus has even less institutional oversight than the NSA and CIA?
The fact that China doesn't seem to have tapped TikTok for intel and mass manipulation doesn't mean that they can't or won't.
Now do Russian disinformation disseminated in the US via Meta and Xitter.
And start with a couple members of Congress who are prone to repeating the Russian disinformation, all but word-for-word English translations in some cases passed off as being something the Congressional Representative came up with.
While I have never been on Tik Tok myself, this ban is/was an absolute joke. There were members of congress that voted to ban the app that were still posting to Tik Tok after they voted to ban the app.
It’s flat out ridiculous that we can only get the geriatric ghoul squad to come together to ban a social media app, but they can’t provide aid to people effected by natural disasters, they can’t protect children from gun violence, they can’t make healthcare affordable, they can’t address housing shortages, hell they can’t even fund the government most of the time.

Just wanted to point out that on each of the issues you named it’s the GTP* that has consistently either obstructed any progress without offering good faith solutions or uses the debt limit as a nihilistic hostage-taking negotiation tactic.
