Sorry, Apple is much too late! xAI and Tesla are way ahead and no one can compete with Elon Musk! Working at Apple is not cool anymore.
Yeah, working at X or Tesla or SpaceX is "super cool" now, I'm sure. I'm sure the best and brightest can't wait to put themselves in Elon's chain of command.
Texas is an odd choice, Houston even moreso. I guess the manufacturing at this facility will be so basic and simplistic that interruptions from Houston's increasingly extreme weather won't matter. If I were situating factories I would not be putting them in areas of current and woresening extreme weather. That just seems unwise. Now Apple of course is known for using renewables and such to power their facilities so maybe they are planing a large stationary battery farm to go with it. Hmm another thing I just thought of is the stupidly high HVAC costs this facility will have compared to other more mild regions. I guess like others have said, this is being done just to please Trump and his pet Texas red monkeys.
Houston has a huge Foxconn ( one of Apple's major contract manufacturers ) presence. I'm sure that was a factor - as well as cheaper costs compared to the Austin area.
Sounds like cook lost confidence through the four years since. But it’s back on now. Gee, wonder why that is.
You're hilarious. The lead time required to queue up the investments named in the headline for this story means they were planned during the last administration and would have occurred regardless of the outcome of an election that occurred only four months ago.
On the other hand, I suppose to the extent that you're parroting the current administration's attitudes, your remark is a good thing. As I've said before, one of Cook's purposes for meeting with the president was surely to make him think these investments were his idea and will happen because of him. As long as he thinks that, he'll be favorably disposed toward Apple, and will be more likely to do things like exempt them from his ham-handed tariffs.
