I wonder how the Chinese will take that
... they took that by raising their tariffs again.

I think it's safe to say that the average person in China is able to handle rising prices on imports better than the average person in the US.

I'm sure it's safe to say that the average person in China 100% supports their government despite the hardships, whereas maybe 45% of the US does.

You voted for this buffoon, you own this. People losing their
jobs, their house, their retirement money. Innocents being deported to foreign prisons and tortured. And worse coming. You own the ruin of this once great nation. I hope you one day realize the immense depth of your stupidity.
What? Quit that fear mongering. I didn’t lost my house and my retirement. If it’s the same.. you will not have America to called home. $36T and counting…are you not scared of that for your kids and grandkids??
Go Apple raise your prices, cause I can afford buying Apple. If you can’t buy a new one, there’s a lot of used and still workings. We been so materialistic that we are in debt up our head and ignoring what we owed just so we can spew our political views. It’s pathetic that this AI becomes cnn.

If you don't already know it, look up the tale of The Emperors New Clothes - there are frightening similarities between the tale and the current situation.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Emperor's_New_Clothes

It would seem likely that our current problem has occurred on a regular basis throughout history.

The EU is about the worst place to assemble a product.  Regulations are terrible and costs are high.

Oh, another person who thinks that "balancing" the federal budget is the same as balancing a checkbook.

Although, I would point out to you that the primary reason the federal deficit is at $36T is because of the tax cuts and policies of the first Trump administration. If you think it's going to improve this time around you are simply engaged in magical thinking.

Maybe, but the EU has similar issues that manufacturing the US has.
EU has one thing that US is no longer is able to offer: Political stability supporting long term investments backed up by a strong legal framework. One might not like EU, but it is extremely predictable (took 15 years from Apple agreed to a common charger to delivery of USB-C).

Predictable is not something Trump is capable of.

It may be tough for a bit, but it’s necessary. We shouldn’t have allowed everyone to-especially China - to tariff us like they have without responding in kind.

China has been stealing our IP, making our stuff, and forcing our companies to hand over their sensitive data and control to the ccp. We don’t do that maybe we should do that for every country that pulls that on ur companies. The fact that China has so much control over apples data is unbelievable and reaches beyond China to everyone who communicates with Chinese citizens.

With China only getting more aggressive and other countries and the EU following suit, it’s time to nip this before it gets even worse. It’s already been too long.

Maybe some of you aren’t willing to hold off on buying some things for a bit. But I can easily wait a bit in order to get a far better situation moving forward.

It pretty much depends on us. What will we do. Will we buy anyway at exorbitant prices, or will we curb our habit long enough to make a difference.

I’ve been waiting forever to upgrade. Just bought an m4 air to tide me over. I can wait a little longer.

Ultimately I think cook knows exactly what this is about and likely supports it in spite of the short term hit. It’s really the only way to get things back to a fair place where it should be.

And we had Tim Trump selling his soul to a man who only cares for himself. Throwing not only his but also Apple’s values under the bus. All for nothing.
He has no spine, he had to kiss the ring.

Tim Cook didn’t have to kiss the ring and certainly no one in their right mind four weeks ago would have believed, that the man in the White House would be as stupid as he’s proven to be. What will be interesting coming up, how many in the future will even bother making the trip to speak with him, the number of people making that trip will get smaller.

As time goes on most will start to look for other legal remedies that go around the Mad Hatter, be it Congress or the courts certainly many of the states and private citizens are going to go to court and there will be lots of suits based upon Article I, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution no need to riot go to court.

US Companies make their products in China because it’s vastly cheaper, even Trump produces all his ridiculous merchandise in China. For the people preaching buy American cars, American cars are junk and have been for the last 40 + years.

You seem to be forgetting most of Europe has deindustrialize themselves. They have even less manufacturing capability than the United States, Canada or Mexico.

Right, sure, Tim Cook supports the tariffs. Hahahaha. But, you keep spinning your alternate reality narrative if it makes you feel better about the disaster we are heading into. Think of this as the moment immediately after the Titanic hit the iceberg and some of the passengers were thinking, "No big deal, this ship is unsinkable."

I feel comfortable that I'm in my right mind and four weeks, four months, four years ago, and even further back, I knew that this man was as stupid as he's proven to be. In fact, he's probably even more stupid than he's "proven to be." Donald Trump is profoundly stupid. As a con man, he's proven to be an idiot savant, but, first and foremost, he's always been an idiot.

Yes. Not to mention that some people in the US are even importing European windows for new homes and still see the task as affordable (shipping, middleman and installation costs included) because they are getting quality that seems hard to match from domestic suppliers.

I suppose that will change with the tariff situation.

But of course, the EU isn't too shabby in these areas of manufacturing either...

    Chemicals and chemical products
    Scientific instruments
    Pharmaceuticals
Machinery and equipment (precisely for manufacturing)
    Aerospace
    Electronics and telecommunications

Not sure I trust the manufacturing and assembly at something like Boeing.

It is very clear that it would take Apple many, many years to reshore manufacturing and staffing is sure to be a problem which will push end prices up too.

I just can't see it ever happening and Trump will be gone long before any projects even begin to take shape.

Someone at some point is going to have to undo the mess.

So now tariffs are 'PAUSED' LOL (bar the 10% base tariff) for 90 days while China gets theirs upped to 125% for not showing 'RESPECT' to Trump.

It would be laughable if it weren't so tragic. Cook and every CEO on the planet can't be expected to navigate the whims of the man.

He is simply not fit for the position he holds.

"Thank you for your attention to this matter!" sounds like a note to the toilet cleaners at Mar-a-Lago.

After all, who knows how sensitive his ass could be after all that kissing.

How can a successful con-man be an idiot? If a con-man is an idiot, he cannot succeed even at a basic level, forget about becoming the President of the wealthiest country in the world. May be, there is something else going on behind the scenes as someone else alluded to in this forum - Stock market manipulation at a large scale to get him and few of his friends super-rich in a short period of time. It is a conspiracy theory, but nothing else makes sense to intrepret what is going on.
