Get these nine classic Sega iOS games for free while you still can
Sega is about to drop support for a series of nine Sega games for the iPhone, with classics including "Crazy Taxi" and "Sonic the Hedgehog 4," but for now they remain free to download and play.

The warning that Sega has now added to nine titles in the App Store
, Sega began issuing free but ad-supported versions of some classic games for iOS under the banner of "Sega Forever." Forever now seems to be about to end, though, as a series of titles have been made completely free -- and have a warning about support coming to an end.
Sega has not officially announced this beyond the in-game notices, and there is as yet no detail about when support will end. It's not even clear whether the titles will remain on the App Store, but the warning notice suggests they won't.
"Support for this game will be discontinued, but you can continue playing offline!" says the warning displayed when you start any of the games.
As first spotted by CNET, the games that are displaying the warning are these nine:
- Crazy Taxi Classic
- Golden Axe Classics
- Shining Force Classics
- Sonic CD Classic
- Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Ep. II
- Streets of Rage Classic
- Streets of Rage 2 Classic
- Super Monkey Ball: Sakura
- Virtua Tennis Challenge
Purchase now means that you should be able to download the title from the App Store even after it has been delisted. Titles on a device migrated with a device-to-device copy will remain even after the title has been totally purged from the store.
Just two years after Sega began publishing the original ad-supported versions of these apps, Apple announced its Apple Arcade.
In that 2019 announcement, Apple said that Sega would be one of the games developers on the service. Sega has continued to contribute to Apple Arcade ever since.
