Apple's latest back-to-school push did have students making the case to their own parents with a Keynote or PowerPoint presentation about why they need a Mac for college -- but the video has now been removed.

Man in a suit presents 'Why I Need a Mac for College' slideshow to an audience, featuring a child's photo labeled Martin.

It's graduation season, which means that Apple is kicking off its yearly back-to-school push. And, in a time when everything feels more expensive, it has come up with a new method for selling Macs -- making the students do the work themselves.

The promotion was a seven-and-a-half-minute-long video that walked students through the process of customizing free, Apple-designed slideshow. The slideshow features "45 customizable, parent-persuading reasons why Mac is crucial for college."

The presentation was given by comedian Martin Herlihy, the son of "Saturday Night Live" writer Tim Herlihy. Like his father, Martin has also worked with "SNL," producing digital shorts for the show.

It's not known why Apple has subsequently removed the video. However, if you're curious about what the presentations look like, you can still download the slides from Apple's College Students landing page. They're available for free in PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Keynote.

If you're a family member or friend looking to help out your favorite grad, we've got you covered. Here are our top picks on great deals on our favorite back-to-school Apple essentials.

For students the best package could be 13" iPad Pro + Pencil Pro.

I would think the best product would be the one that supports the work they need to do rather than some one size fits all solution.

The iPad Pro + Pencil combination supports the work they need to do, which is mostly learning. Pencil supports note taking in classes or in studios or labs. iPad Pro is powerful and editing and drawing with Pencil is so much better than a trackpad on a laptop.

Don’t disagree, just think it needs a keyboard, especially with upcoming iPadOS new functionality - that’s what I used in class, not my 11” MBA at the time, but like Stabitha says, not a one size fits all. Not really any wrong answers.

If this video was done by Apple creative or marketing people, they should all be fired.

Lack of humor. Not to the point. Over the top in acting.

This is the new Apple Inc. without Steve Jobs. 😩🤮

Does it? To the best of my knowledge there is no IDE for the iPad, so it makes less than ideal for anyone doing work that requires programming. So the entire field of computer science is off the table with an iPad. And that is use one example. Again, the best tool is the one that supports the work rather than a one size fits all solution

Yes, iPad Pro + Pencil is the best as the daily carry-around devices for going to classes at university and college. As a modern student you should also have a Mac at home or perhaps your university or college has studios or labs with computers.

Best package for success is probably 13" iPad Pro + Pencil + Mac running MacOS + iPhone Pro + Watch Ultra + AirPods Pro.

Sounds like the package for Apple's success.
Not necessarily for the student or his/her parents.

I think it just depends what they are going to school for.
