Ok. I am at the port forwarding page---just like page 65. Now what?
Add the application name (if you want, I assume it's optional; something like "itunes sharing"), the port you want opened. It allows you to give a range of ports, but you only need 3689 so put that in both boxes. Put the IP address you assigned to your computer in the ip address box and apply. That should do it.
Oh, I don't know if it's udp or tcp so check both of them.
Ok. I put 3689 in both boxes and checked TCP UDP and put in my IP ending...HIT APPLY--it said "setting successful" but nothing happened. Then if I go BACK and hit CONTINUE...it pulls up some page with EXT. port and numbers in double digits? I was unable to give anything a NAME???? How do I check beyond this? I feel like such a MORON
If you guys want to give up, that is fine. I think I need a mac person IN PERSON...and my friend is coming over this weekend...so I will make him do it. Thanks so much for all the help so far...

Hmm. Do you have a screenshot of this? Last try for the night. I've gotta get up tomorrow....
I get to a simple page "settings successful" with CONTINUE button. When I click that...it takes me RIGHT back to the same page I hit APPLY at(orignal page) seen above.
Well, that sounds about right. Do you have a firewall on your computer? Check the sharing preference pane. If you do, turn it off. Your router takes care of it for you.

For application, you could type in iTunes, not necessary though.
Port: Enter 3689
IP: Forward it to your local IP (192.168.1.101)
I think that's it, if there's anything else let me know what else you see that needs to be filled in.

Yes I have a FW but thought it was off. what pref. pane? Where do I go to make sure my FW is disabled?
The "Sharing" preference pane. There's a firewall tab. If that doeesn't do it, I don't know what will because you've done everything else right.
thanks for all you have done!

Hey, that looks exactly like my nifty screenshot!
iLife (including iTunes) discussion goes in Digital Hub.
Tech Support discussions go in the Genius Bar.
Since this is bordering on both but deals with a pretty important major feature of iTunes, I'm moving this to Digital Hub.
