Five men from the San Francisco Bay Area have been indicted in connection with a robbery targeting a business that handled Apple iPhones. The U.S. Attorney's Office announced the charges on August 5.
The indictment names Cankun He, Hailong Ma, Robert Maynard, Yuxiang Wei, and Jordan Cantie as part of the alleged conspiracy. The targeted facility, located in Oregon, primarily functioned as a reshipping center.
On April 14, Maynard and Cantie allegedly entered the business parking lot flashing red and blue lights. The suspects were reportedly dressed in bulletproof vests and jackets bearing fake FBI logos.
Authorities told Kron 4 that Cantie brandished a gun, and he and Maynard zip-tied employees at the scene. The men reportedly issued threats before stealing the devices.
Ma and Wei allegedly waited nearby while the operation unfolded. The fifth conspirator, He, is being charged with assisting in planning the robbery.
Approximately 200 Apple iPhones and five cameras were stolen in the heist.
Prosecutors say the group drove back to California and later met with others to hand off the stolen phones. The investigation revealed the suspects also planned a second iPhone theft.
Four of the men have been in custody since their arrests earlier this year. The fifth individual, Jordan Cantie, remains at large.
