Martin Scorsese's rather epic career in film has seen him work for Apple to make "
Killers of the Flower Moon," and heard Robert DeNiro complain about Apple TV+ censoring his tribute to the filmmaker. Now Apple TV+ and writer/director Rebecca Miller have produced "Mr. Scorsese," a five-part documentary series about him.

"This project is a filmmaker's dream, to have had such access to legends of the industry, from Marty himself to his prolific collaborators, close friends and family members," said Miller in a statement. "I was honored he trusted me to create this documentary, which I believe will resonate with everyone from dedicated Scorsese fans to anyone who has grappled with failure and reached for stars."

Alongside the announcement, Apple TV+ has released a short segment from the series, in which Scorsese reveals how he even tried to destroy "Taxi Driver" rather than see it ruined by studio interference.

"I'm excited to share a sneak peek of Mr. Scorsese,' which includes the true version of a mythic (a never-before-told) story about Taxi Driver,'" continued Miller, "and how, thanks to Marty's perseverance and dedication to his art, the film retained its integrity and went on to become one of the most culturally significant films of all time."

The new documentary series is due to stream on Apple TV+ from Friday, October 17. Apple has yet to say whether it will release more than the first episode on that day.

Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon" is now available to watch on Apple TV+.
