Apple is currently testing Douyin Pay support, a mobile payment service owned by TikTok's parent company, for the China App Store.

Douyin is, to put it plainly, China's version of TikTok -- ByteDance owns both platforms. However, Douyin is exclusive to mainland China and Hong Kong and is subject to Chinese censorship and regulation.

Just like TikTok, Douyin is a wildly popular app. It sees more than 766 million monthly active users.

If approved, Douyin Pay users can use their linked Douyin Pay accounts to make app store purchases. It would also be the fourth mobile payment platform, joining AliPay, WeChat Pay, and the government-run Union Pay, as pointed out by the South China Morning Post.

Douyin Pay was launched in January 2021 and currently exists within Douyin. Users can link bank accounts and credit cards to conduct transactions within Douyin, including in-app stores and livestreams, and transfer money to other Douyin Users.
