Apple's September iPhone 17 event is closing in, and case maker dbrand has confidently revealed its Tank Case that showcases Apple's new camera bar design.

It's an annual tradition that at least a few iPhone case makers try to beat others to the punch with a mass production run of cases before the iPhone event. Some do well, while others face incredible delays and have to refund pre-orders.

If there's ever been a brand that oozes confidence, it's dbrand, and it's out here claiming to have the final iPhone 17 Pro design down pat. It has pre-announced the Tank Case for iPhone 17 Pro, which clearly showcases the new camera bar design.

The case itself is quite unique and a departure from dbrand's usual style -- which is usually sleek cases or detailed decals. Those familiar with the Nintendo Switch Killswitch design will see some of that reflected in the Tank Case.

Of course, dbrand's limited edition cases are always a departure, but this one has a rugged look and has an especially decorative MagSafe area.

The pitch is written with dbrand's usual aggressive language, suggesting iPhones are fragile and incite fear. The Tank Case will allegedly save you from planned obsolescence and product anxiety.

The case renders show the Action button, Camera Control, and all of the usual expected features of an iPhone. What stands out is the raised portion at the top that houses the cameras, flash, LiDAR, and light sensor.

The layout clearly suggests there's a camera bar under there, and a slight shelf in the case showcases that. If dbrand's measurements are accurate, then this is the best look we've had at iPhone 17 Pro beyond seeing one in the wild in a brick-like case.

This is rated likely due to the proximity to the iPhone event. Case makers likely have been provided details, either by Apple or supply chain entities, at this point.

The Tank Case will be available exclusively for the iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Apple is expected to reveal the iPhone 17 lineup during an event on September 9. Pre-orders should begin that day or September 12, then initial shipments and in-store availability on September 19.

If I am not mistaken, Apple has never broadly provided info prior to launch. Has that changed?

There was a rumor of yet another button for the camera, on the top of the phone. Looks like it is not panning out.

The positioning of the volume and power/standby buttons are frustrating. They should move the power/standby button back to the top, down the side more or the same side as the volume buttons. Anywhere but opposite the volume buttons.

Any, this case has some kind of neutral, but capacitive transparent material for the capacitive+haptic camera control button?

Apple doesn't broadly provide info, no. But it does have specific partners like at Belkin that it clearly shares information with ahead of time. dbrand is likely going off of rumors that have been confirmed by a supply chain source.
