From what I understand, the people at the store in question do not work on comission. All I can say with certainty is that he sounded like he believed what he was saying.
Please send me a 19" Cinema Display for Christmas. I have been waiting many many months for the perfect size at the perfect price. This will really make my Christmas holiday extra-special.
Then why did you name your thread "New Apple Monitors on Wednesday?"</strong><hr></blockquote>
If you look at the name of his thread again, you will notice it ends with a question mark? if i recall properly, that would indicate that he is wondering if it is possible based on what he heard. it isn't a statement of fact. i would say the title for the thread is fine.
A price drop would make sense given the new Formac LCDs that are out. Much cheaper than Apple's and better performance specs - and not bad looking either. Even come with Speed Holes ? !
<strong>It depends on whether you are interested in making one quick sale or if you would rather try to build a long-term relationship with a customer.

Very true.
I worked retail (for far too long) and found that customers are generally not trying to screw you (there are, alas, exceptions). I found consistently that the better you treat a customer, the more business you'll get from/through that customer, and the less trouble that customer's business will be.
On the other world, I mean hand, if your customers get the idea that you're misleading them or otherwise trying to screw them, the negative word-of-mouth they can generate can sink you.
Very possible...well, soon it will be tomorrow, and we'll see what's what. If I get to the dealer again, I'll see if they have a promotion of their own, if we don't hear back of some change at Apple.
I expect Apple to lead the marketplace with organic flat panel display technology by January MacWorld San Francisco at the latest. If this is happening sooner than that, I'm impressed.
I believe most of the flat panel manufacturers are working their plans to convert most of their capacity to organic flats within this next year. Why? They cost less to make and they are far superior to look at. IE CRT's years are numbered. I'll be very surprised if CRTs are still being manufacturered at the end of this decade.
Ahhh, OLED... We've been panting over that for a long time, but as far as I can tell there are major problems that have yet to be sorted out, especially for color screens. In the end, by the time OLED is ready, advances in LCD manufacture will have made LCD's simpler and cheaper to produce, and vastly improved their performance aswell. Look at the latest MVA screens next to an LCD from 3-4 years ago. Night and day. If OLED takes any longer, it will be a moot point.
Went by the store today, and they have discounted their Apple flatscreens...they are taking $300 off of all of them, across the board. No sign of anything saying this is an Apple move.

<strong>Yeah! What a jerk the sales guy is. I mean, he was no where near vague enough for it to be true!
Anyway, I bet you couldn't re-arranged the sales guys name to spell 'mud rats soon'.

Maybe the store will just be having a promotion of some kind that starts on Wednesday.
Perhaps the store is just getting around to the $500 saving on Apple flat panel displays when you buy a Powermac.
