Thats wat google does for me.

I take it you've never clicked any of the links around the front page. -Brad

Brad, granted you are an Admin and thus an 'untouchable' but you have to realize all those 'services' you linked to above are ALL still SEARCHES. Where is free Google email? Movie times? Calculators? Calanders? Etc. There are tons of things which yahoo offers which Google doesn't do.

If ALL you want to do is a seach you can use Google, but if you want to get access to MORE information (via numerous services built into yahoo like category matches etc) you HAVE to go with yahoo, excite, atlavista etc. There are better sites out there.

Lets just face up you google addicts. If it went public and became commercialized like every other big site would you still use it? NO! No you wouldn't. You only use it because of it's yuppie 'pure search' appeal and as soon as it 'sells out' you will go to the next one. You aren't on the outside looking in, you are inside and blind.

There is no 'one' site which offers everything. Depending on your search terms any search engine can produce results. For ME yahoo is 10x better then Google since my own domains hardly ever crop up in Google whereas they are in the top 5 every time with yahoo. I have never 'submitted' the sites or paid to have them advertising but I get a hell of a lot more hits from Yahoo then I do from Google.

Long and short is it's a matter of opinion which engine is better but you don't need to get snide about it Brad.

Google is a fantastic search tool, as evidenced by its use by Yahoo! and others, especially those of us who are constantly using its search engine like mad demons.

If you're more of a khaki pants, check my email and look up a movie time kind of person then Yahoo! is your cup of tea.....

...but looking down your nose at a torque wrench because it doesn't fit neatly on your belt like the Garden Party Leatherman is low-class Fat Albert.

lol, i use google 'cause it doesn't have an assload of stupid shit to load every time i want to do a search. that alone makes it 100 times better than any other search engine. (that works)

yahoo might have games, sports, ass wiping utilities, i couldn't care less.

i want a search engine, period.

it's like those lame ass copier, fax, printer deals. they happen to suck at all three, because they aren't designed to specifically do any one.

    Or here.

I think it's more that that. They seem to censor any page that's overtly critical. It's weird. But if you have a page that just lambasts someone, it could be completely taken out of Google. That's not right. Even if the criticism is wrong, the censorship is worse.

First link talks about google.de and google.fr. I don´t like the german laws that prohibits the access to information about stuff like Mein Kampf and other nazi and neo-nazi material and information about religious cults. But thats the law there.

The second like states that anti-scientology sites like xenu.net have been filtered. But if I make a search on scientology xenu is the second link. And fourth link is www.scientology-lies.com .

Well as no one else seems to know, "Google" Is just "go ogle" combined into one word. "Go" meaning to move from one place to another, and "ogle" meaning to stare at...

    And the word "Googol" also means the number 10 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000

    yees...

Hum... if you *know how to shop* you won't buy a lame one. There are plenty of them that kick @$$ at all three. It's not a totally straight analogy because Yahoo doesn't suck at them all. AAMOF, I have yet to see better alternatives to MANY of their features. Their 'catagories' systems is 100xs superior to other sites, their search USES google (and actually gets the stuff you want) their email is FREE, their new isn't 'fox right' or 'cnn left' and they are openly traded and very UN-cult like. There are no 'khaki pants users'. EVERYONE is user... from techno-phile to loser-leguizamo yahoo meshes quite well.

Also... they have plenty of strategic partnerships which further your searches. As for the 'assload of stoopid shit' that loads.... yahoo's site is just fine. It doesn't take up any more time to load then any other website. Besides, when doing a search nano-seconds are only noticable by other computers. End users just LIKE yahoo. I think you still give wayyyy too much credit to Google.

    Neat Site: Yo.
