Again, even the judge said this qualified as a death penalty case. Who on that jury was going to go for life imprisonment if not the one who worried himself over the morality of the death penalty?
This is why we have juries decide the sentancing in capitol cases. Maybe the judge is wrong, perhaps the jury would have interpreted the law differently than the judge... whatever. THe point is that the defendant could have been sentanced to life imprisonment regardless of what the judge says. No one knows.
In fact exactly what occured is irrelevent for this descision except for the fact that they used a bible and not solely the law in sentancing and that is wrong...

Ironic, isn't it? It costs so much because we've made it humane. The people who pressed for it to be so humane with the expensive drugs are now the ones saying it costs too much. Granted, they can still be philosophically opposed to it, but the cost argument is really nonsense. Cost could be taken out of the equation by simply using one bullet.
