Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'

I recently started rolling my own cigarettes. And for all you smokers out there who haven't tried it, you might want to consider, because its hella cheaper. In ny, a pouch of tobacco is about $5-6, and it carries enough tobacco for around 40-50 cigarettes (i think about an ounce, or an ounce and a qtr). Other states with less nazi-like tobacco taxes, can get a pouch for like $2-4. The economics of it are wonderful. And you may very well enjoy the taste of the smoke, for me its even a lot nicer than reds (my fav premades).

But back to my intent, does anyone know any exotic or cool rolling techniques? I got to thinking about my technique yesterday, and it really is poor. With weed I roll it up into a pretty nice cone, but that doesn't seem right with just tobakky. I've heard about some kind of Italian (or possibly just European) method which has the glue upside down. Anyone know any other tricks or techniques? Anyone have a favorite brand of loose tobacco? Mine is American Spirit.

Couldn't you get a rolling machine? Didn't they make those are one point in time?

Oh BTW the better solution is to stop smoking

Bugler. The only tobacco you'll ever need (ie want).

Have you ever tried a rolling machine? They can make perfectly straight sticks. Just make some in advance and carry then in a normal box of smokes.

That's what most of 'em use, I thought. A litle plastic doohickey with 2 or three little rollers in it.

This is, of course, exactly the kind of thing that excessive taxation and regulation of cigarettes was supposed to avoid--I know more and more people switching to rolling their own, which means unfiltered, which means more deaths.

    Life's funny.

Bah, rolling machines and injectors aren't any fun. I enjoy rolling cigarettes. And straightness aint my problem (hm, unintended pun there); I tend to make em too loose I think (machines probably would fix that i guess). My friend has a machine, and it actually packed it too tight, if i do recall correctly. Practically had an anuerysm. It kind of put me in bad with the whole machine idea. But if I wanted a machine made cig, I'd get a pack of reds. Plus rolling is a lot cooler to do in public, than machining. Cops wonder if I'm illegaling, and chix dig the chill factor.

first, rolling isn't exactly skyrocketing, premades are still excessively popular. Second, rolling doesn't have to mean unfiltered, many companies sell filters, and many rollers use them. Third, I think thats a faulty strategy: attempting to quash an addiction by hiking the prices. Fourth, i wasn't thinking of this thread as to be any kind of a thoughtful debate kind, just unmitigated rolling talk.

I roll a decent joint. Haven't rolled a cigarette since I stopped though. I never thought a rolled cigarette could hold its own against a regular filtered one. But joints, on the other hand (again, its been quite a while), single cones, L-cones, double-cones, filter left, filter right, ...

Some studies show that cigarette filters cause more cancer than the tobacco.

If a rolling machine makes a stick to tight, put less tobacco in the machine.

I could never roll a number* by hand.

    * A Neil Young reference so I could get Neil mentioned in a fourth thread in a covert attempt to get this forum renamed to Neil Young Insider.

First, you're right, but they will keep getting more popular as the costs increase. Second, I didn't know that. Third, I agree it's a dumb strategy--that's why I pointed it out. Fourth, I'll do my best not to be thoughtful.

Tried rollin' for a while. I'm an Am Spirit Blues guy myself, and the little Blue pouch was just too sexy not to try. It just took too damn long. I'm a little over a pack a day, and after a week of rollin' my daily requirement I would've payed somebody 5 bucks a day to roll for me. Even got the little machine to pick up the pace, but they ended up being either Ultra Viagra hard or Limpy Banana soft. Just couldn't get it right.

I liked to idea (and the cost) though. Maybe a pipe...

pipes rule, and smell good. to bad you have to be over 65 to smoke one and not look like a complete ass.

the only reason i ever smoked was to learn how to blow smoke rings. cigars work wonderfully for that.

aside from the fact that i don't believe you, could you keep these comments to a thread that intends to harbor them. maybe i should've put something in the title, like "no anti-smoking messages", but i dont care to hear the damned whining. its not like smokers haven't heard this sh!t before, we decided to smoke despite the warnings, and hearing it over and over isn't really going to convice anyone.

    *trying to ignore the anti-smokers*

so, what's everyone's favorite papers? i always used to prefer big bambus, because i could roll really fat j's wiff em. for ciggies, i tend to stick with rizlas, cuz they are phre with the am spirits and they are good enough. some of my friends are really rigid about what they'll smoke. they refuse cigs made with certain papers. i aint that much into papers, its all good enough for me.

Cancer rates for filterless smokers (like Camel smokes) are lower than those for filtered cigarettes.

    So piss off.
