Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'
I recently started rolling my own cigarettes. And for all you smokers out there who haven't tried it, you might want to consider, because its hella cheaper. In ny, a pouch of tobacco is about $5-6, and it carries enough tobacco for around 40-50 cigarettes (i think about an ounce, or an ounce and a qtr). Other states with less nazi-like tobacco taxes, can get a pouch for like $2-4. The economics of it are wonderful. And you may very well enjoy the taste of the smoke, for me its even a lot nicer than reds (my fav premades).
But back to my intent, does anyone know any exotic or cool rolling techniques? I got to thinking about my technique yesterday, and it really is poor. With weed I roll it up into a pretty nice cone, but that doesn't seem right with just tobakky. I've heard about some kind of Italian (or possibly just European) method which has the glue upside down. Anyone know any other tricks or techniques? Anyone have a favorite brand of loose tobacco? Mine is American Spirit.

Oh BTW the better solution is to stop smoking
Have you ever tried a rolling machine? They can make perfectly straight sticks. Just make some in advance and carry then in a normal box of smokes.

That's what most of 'em use, I thought. A litle plastic doohickey with 2 or three little rollers in it.
Life's funny.

This is, of course, exactly the kind of thing that excessive taxation and regulation of cigarettes was supposed to avoid--I know more and more people switching to rolling their own, which means unfiltered, which means more deaths.
first, rolling isn't exactly skyrocketing, premades are still excessively popular. Second, rolling doesn't have to mean unfiltered, many companies sell filters, and many rollers use them. Third, I think thats a faulty strategy: attempting to quash an addiction by hiking the prices. Fourth, i wasn't thinking of this thread as to be any kind of a thoughtful debate kind, just unmitigated rolling talk.
If a rolling machine makes a stick to tight, put less tobacco in the machine.
I could never roll a number* by hand.
* A Neil Young reference so I could get Neil mentioned in a fourth thread in a covert attempt to get this forum renamed to Neil Young Insider.
First, you're right, but they will keep getting more popular as the costs increase. Second, I didn't know that. Third, I agree it's a dumb strategy--that's why I pointed it out. Fourth, I'll do my best not to be thoughtful.

glad to hear i can stop thought.
thinking of rollin' (rollin' rollin'), can anyone around here roll one-handed? its quite the feat to behold. unfortunately my lameass is yet uncapable.
I liked to idea (and the cost) though. Maybe a pipe...
the only reason i ever smoked was to learn how to blow smoke rings. cigars work wonderfully for that.

rolling one's own cigarrete just means you will get cnacer or other breathing problems sooner
aside from the fact that i don't believe you, could you keep these comments to a thread that intends to harbor them. maybe i should've put something in the title, like "no anti-smoking messages", but i dont care to hear the damned whining. its not like smokers haven't heard this sh!t before, we decided to smoke despite the warnings, and hearing it over and over isn't really going to convice anyone.

believe me i know many people who had lung transplants as a result of smoking. i also know a couple people who have part of their lungs removed due to cancer from smoking

rolling your own smokes and smoking is fun
anti-smoking is PC? how's that?
i have proof somewhere in the mess in front of me that proves that smokers are the sole reason for global warming and the rise of naziism in the mid 20th century...
[rumages through paper] where is that proof, where gahhhhhhhhh! that man, he worked for phillip morris noooooooO!!!!!!!!!!!!![/end rumage]
oh well.
so, what's everyone's favorite papers? i always used to prefer big bambus, because i could roll really fat j's wiff em. for ciggies, i tend to stick with rizlas, cuz they are phre with the am spirits and they are good enough. some of my friends are really rigid about what they'll smoke. they refuse cigs made with certain papers. i aint that much into papers, its all good enough for me.
smoked Drum
friend had a rolling machine . . . and they are very stylish when done right . . . easier to add filters too.
So piss off.
