Not a major character, but I always was annoyed by Barclay. (Sorry, I don't have a picture.) I can't believe they gave him a part in Voyager.
Also, I think the original star trek was the best and no follow up or other crew could match it. In fact, I think each spin off got exponentially worse than the one before. TNG wasn't too bad, especially as the seasons progressed. DS9 was a piece of crap, and Voyager wasn't much better.
You know my reasons why Janeway does not fit the galactic swash-buckling chauvanist model of a star trek captain, hence she becomes extremely annoying, if nothing else for her castrating effect on the male figures. That's why men dislike her, and passive agressive women seem to like her.
Should a captain be a swash buckling chauvanist? No, but a star trek captain pretty much needs to be. Kirk rules, he's an epic hero. Janeway, well, she's just confused.
I can think of much better formulas for female action hero than dropping a woman into a role with a few token/cliche adjustments to account for feminity.
Shoot. Hope that image turns up (fixed it). It is that character Clint Howard played in the original Star Trek. It creeped me out as a kid and he still does (Clint that is) to this day. I'm old school "Trekkie" so I wasn't a frequent watcher of the other incarnations/spin-offs.
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!
"eeet eess Tranya . . . I hope you relish it more than I"
I have remembered that phrase from those lips with a cold sweat ever since the 70s!!!
"Janeway: I'd consider her a role model for women everywhere. I can't believe you people consider her annoying. She's a Katherine Hepburn, only younger. I'd consider her a better captain than Picard."
Look, I doubt she's much of a role model, but that aside the writers of that show made her character totally inconsistent. She regularly endangers her crew and acts incredibly erratic--I feel bad for the actress, as I've seen her on stage and she's very good, but the writers and producers for Voyager really killed it.
Chalk me up as another vote for Janeway .....................I'd consider her a role model for women everywhere.
I always liked poor old Janeway..mainly because she is such a battler...
Which reminds me,
Why is it in all the years of *Trek Voyager etc that we never ran into a " Dyke " planet or had a tete te with a spaceship run by Lesbians all looking like 7 0f 9 but more scantily dressed.....?
Fantasy / whoopee cushion switch turned on to max vibration..brrrrrrrrrr
Thanks, Dic err.. Rick for running the franchise into the ground. One show in the late 60's was ahead of it's time and is now an icon. In the 80's, Roddenberry struck gold again with TNG. Then Berman gets his grubby hands on it and voila', spinoff after spinoff. Trek this, Trek that. What's next, a daytime Trek themed soap opera???
Unprompted, my wife immediately said "Neelix" (as I also did earlier in this poll), but then mentioned "Q". This surprised me, as I always really enjoyed the "Q" episodes and thought that she did too. What you don't know about a person even after living with them for 11 years.

Q!
I hated just about every episode when he was in one.
IMO, they wasted a lot of good show on this clown character.
For all you trekkies out there.
