They could be a lot more mundane than animated text, and a lot more useful. The president of Nisus went on the record as saying that Cocoa's text handling capabilities left a lot to be desired - there are issues with bidirectional text, and that sort of thing. A text framework that automagically gave you the full suite of capabilities available to those patient enough to implement them in Mac OS wouldn't be sexy, but it would make OS X an excellent international citizen. And it would be pretty much mandatory if, say, Apple intended to hypothetically release a word processor, or something like that.
Nisus would like it too, for that matter, since they were one of the few companies that really did eke every drop of functionality out of Mac OS' text handling capabilities.
i want real right to left text support. i do work in Farsi and without this, i can't use Mac OS X and will soon have to buy a Windows box just to do this work and i REALLY don't want to do that.
