"... whether it's better to build phones with two "CPUs" - as they are today, with one for the radio and one for the data - or one. A two chip phone isolates the baseband stacks from bugs in the general purpose processor affecting the radio."
So it seems cell phones today make use of TWO CPUs as well.... I dunno of any other MP3 player that does so could we be back to iPod = iPhone?
It adds up...
iPod has two CPUs
iPod uses Pixo (a cell phone software OS)
That OS BTW seems to have dropped off the face of the earth... It sure isn't on their web site any more. Why?
Newtons used StrongARM processors. Palm is migrating to ARM processors (from Mot's 68K-derived DragonBall) now as well.

OffTopic, but of interest.
The Newton used StrongARM processors - but it didn't really have to. All Newton Apps were written in NewtonScript which was a Bytecode language (like Java). It was all interpreted (so to speak) - so the Newton could have migrated to any processor and as long as they ported the OS, all the apps would have worked seamlessly.

Or the Eskimo being defrosted?
Why does the iPod have TWO ARM CPU's in them?
While doing some reading I found this:

i still think there is a market for a smart little gadget that lets us communicate/organize with "apple-style".
goodbye newton - hello newton

as for why the iPod has Two processors,
you CAN boot anything up to an xServe from it,
and "20Gb" has two 10Gb drives not one big one
so maybe it's some kind of RAID controller...
screw the rack mount, wirelessly gang 20 iPods!
that or it could be multithreaded like the MDD

On a slightly more serious note, perhaps this is the source of the "Apple Goes With AMD" rumors?

My thoughts exactly.
And on that note, I'm moving this to Digital Hub.
Finally.
