No new PDA from Apple now Newton successor. I personally regret, but it's economically better. No doubt Apple could do a much better PDA than any other manufacturer, but there wouldn't be enough buyers for such a product.
I expect a major update to the iPod at MWSF. Think of 10GB and 20GB models only. Color display with higher resolution. Built in microphone to record to MP3/AAC like a digital Pocket Memo. Syncing for voice notes with iTunes.
Updates to iMac/eMac and Xserve as well as wireless hardware (AirPort) are due as well.
it seems that with the calendar and contacts functions, this is what Apple believes people want/use PDA's for. I could see the addition of a "notes" function, to save little notes and reminders... but as for a new full fledged PDA, i don't see it happening.
The iPod will never have any true value as a "PDA" without some method of data entry. It's not particularly helpful to have to remember appointments or notes until you get home to enter them on your Mac.
iPod is not a PDA and never will it be one, ever. If Apple does ever make another PDA/tablet device, it willnot be an iPod or have anything to do with one except for it possibly utilizing the same storage technology and integrating charging/high-speed transfer over firewire. That's all. The only reason iPod has some meagre contact info/calendar capability is that it cost Apple nothing to include it.

Now....an Apple Phone...that's another story...
iPOD = iP.O.D. = i Personal Organizing Device?

On my slight diversion (sorry), here's <a href="http://www.economist.com/displaystory.cfm?story_id=1454300" target="_blank">an article</a> about Nokia and Microsoft.
Although I read somewhere the possibility of a color iPod. Would be nice to carry pictures or qt movies around.
