I don't know about all of you, but the number 1 selling point of a new 15 would be a light up keyboard. This is easily one of the coolest laptop features I have seen in a while but it isn't worth having a 17 inch monster laptop.
Mmmm, I am leaning on something new from IBM...they new the situation with the Power Mac and Motorola was useless, why wouldn't they think the same way about the PowerBook line. Granted, a "embedded processor" more suites a laptop than a desktop, but this is stagnant Motorola. No, my money is on a lower power chip from IBM coming later this summer/fall.
If it is something new from IBM, then it is something new and unannounced. IBM doesn't keep CPU projects wrapped up in secrecy (e.g. they announced the G5 well before Apple announced the G5) so we can deduce that IBM won't be powering powerbooks with a new chip any time soon. Besides, powerbook users NEED Altivec and so they would need a 750VX which unfortunately won't be ready in time.

The only difference is that IBM will also use the PowerPC 970. This may be "only for Apple", and thus, not announced. A long shot I am sure, but one never knows.
