Has anyone noticed that the keyboard used in the commercial is the cheap one shipping with the eMacs?

I am shelling out close to $3400.00 for a dualie with a Radeon 9800 Pro and a bluetooth module and I am going to get a totally crap keyboard and mouse to go with it.

    Whats wrong with this picture?

Haven't they always shared the same keyboard (apart from the obvious colour differences)?

The eMac's the first machine to ship with a different keyboard since the Pro Mouse and Pro Keyboard were announced...

    I think?

So you could have paid that for a G4 1.42GHz Dualie and had the same keyboard as the eMac/iMac families.

More to the point, did you notice that the display was a standard Cinema HD Display?

HOW IS THAT KEYBOARD CRAPPY? Sure, it's a dissapointment that it's not Bluetooth. Sure, it doesn't have USB 2.0 ports. But why does everyone regard it as a complete pile of crap!? Sure, the height isn't adjustable- but the previous Pro keyboard might as well not have been, because no one used it without the stand. But the Dell keyboards are NO BETTER! And the mouse...get over it, and pick up an Optical Blue from Bestbuy for $9. Sheesh. There's no real reson that Apple should supply a Super-Ultra-Psychosynthesizer keyboard. And the eMac keyboard is certainly not trash by any stretch of the imagination.

I've never found anything wrong with the keyboards that Apple has shipped recently, meaning the Pro and eMac keyboard. The worst thing I've ever found is that when I'm using Calculator, if I hit the Clear key, the little lite turns on. This is not that big of a deal. I hate the keyboards that have a bunch of extra buttons, and try and make the keyboard more than it should be.

I agree, there is nothing wrong with the new keyboard, I like it better than the old pro one in fact.

The new keyboard looks even cheesier than the old on IMO.

Compared them at the Apple store yesterday.

    Total suckage.

I really like the pro keyboard, the keys are generally quieter than all the other keyboards in the house(4, one mini-mac KB)

The keys are comfortable(which understandably is partially attributed to the fact I've been using this for 3 years now)

And the height is just fine for me, I use the stand, though it doesn't make much a difference I usually don't rest my wrists on the desk anyway.

I loooooove the new Powerbook keyboards, those things are like buttah.

Beyond the nice touch the keys have, and the full keyboard layout, what else do people want from a keyboard? It's sturdy, it looks good. Does the cord need to be longer? Don't let keyboards fall prey to featuritis!

My keyboard and mouse from Apple that came with iMac are all solid pieces of hardware, however they are the "Pro" series. The firmness in keys compared to my HP keyboard aren't even similar. Though, I would like to see a keyboard from Apple with a backlight feature. That would be awesome. 8)

Cool, yes, but completely and totally unnecessary. When you're in the back of a taxi at night, having the glowing keys might be helpful. But in your office, which should be well-lit, there is no need. Just my 2¢.

I could go for some of that nifty fiber optic backlighting technology like the 17" PowerBook.

Well, coolness factor aside, I do type in the dark/low light sometimes when my brothers are watching DVD's. My computer and home theater system share the same room. Also, I'm tired of PC friends ragging on Macs. A standard Apple keyboard with a backlight would give me much more ammunition in the Mac/PC war.

    And I think it's cool. 8)

    Exactly cuz its cool!!

It would have the "apple touch" just like their implementation of fast user switching.

learn to touch type and you wont notice when they do add that.

i recently bought the old and new style keyboards. i like them both. they have whats important: the letters, volume, and eject. the old style was a little nicer, cuz i could have a pen sitting above the function keys, but i got over that.
