    Except with basic 2D work and QuickTime. Both of which are important for FCP's rendering and encoding.



    I'll grant that Quartz Extreme does not help with the actual rendering, just the preview. I'm sorry if your poor brain got fried by my implication that I was including all factors where graphics cards help, not just the direct contribution to rendering. Quartz Extreme certainly frees up the CPU to perform other tasks and the more raw bandwidth available in the system, including the graphics chip's raw bandwidth, the better.

    Read my reply. I meant the video card never speeds up on rendering on file.



    Oh yeah. My brain is fried and it tastes good. Happy now ?
