Gee! 87 billion would create decent jobs for the 2.5 million jobs lost during the 2 and a half years of Bush Administration for a whole year!
And the income taxes on their salaries could fund Byrd's education bill plus make both Social Security and Medicare solvent forever. The property and sales taxes could fix some infrastructure too.
Apparently, the $87b requested is still $55-75b short of what the white house says it will need for reconstruction over the next two years, and that there is no apparent source for those funds.
And as he points out, that basically puts the price of the first two years at a quarter of a trillion dollars.
