Does file transfer not work at all? Or its just finicky? I tried it and had it poop out....but is that because I have a firewall up (used Brickhouse to configure to let nothing in).
it's finicky, sometimes it goes off with out a hitch to whoever, whenever, and other times it just doesn't work, even with the same people.
I'd like to see support for animated gifs like AIM does. Right now, I can't see my friend's animated gif buddy icons. Hey, a girl can dream. All the other suggestions are pretty good too.
I'm surprised no one mentioned the ability to use multiple accounts simultaneously. Like AIM+ does on the PC. I really hope that makes the cut in iChat AV 1.0 or later. Wouldn't that be k-rad.
So no one wants to use more than one screen name at the same time?
Why would anyone want to do that? Is it really so important, outside of über-nerds, to glum up the interface in a way that would support multiple logins, etc. It's simple now, it works. It's elegant. It's a hell of a lot better UI than Windows AIM has. Let's keep it that way.
And yes, I hate people that have fifty thousand AIM names and are always switching them. Thank God Address Book supports multiple screen names under a single contact.
Most people have more than one email, same with screen name. It is pathetic that iChat can't use more than one screen name at a time. Or...What if a friend comes over and wants to sign on but you want to keep your name on too? Or what if you want to go to work and be able to send files to yourself (can iChat AV even auto accept?) Yes I do hate people that keep changing names, I've kept the first one I ever made but I have had to make new ones for various reasons.
Wrong. No one uses anything but AIM and if they do they are a minority in the Northeast USA. Linux people don't count. And they have gaim which they like to brag about.
Depends on location. In Britain, hardly anyone ever uses anything but MSN. AIM just isn't popular. ICQ used to be popular but everyone switched.
And since MSN just blocked third party clients, I now use Jabber.

Amorya
A PC version maybe?
For that matter why would anyone use any other protocol except maybe Jabber.
