i just thought of a really great relaxed-type blues song: "Walking the Blues" by Willie Dixon.

Search for St. Germain. Great jazz/blues/reggae/whatever band. Smooth.

Find the original "chill" music here.

Truly some smooth music going on here. The best of it's kind.

    Ok. I'll stop pluggin' now.

1337, you might be right. Were I to buy one LP from Portishead, which would you recommend as their "classic"?

I pretty much deduced that Mezzanine is considered to be Massive Attack's most powerful and consistent work, so that's what I got. Thinking about getting Blue Lines because it's their original LP, and if nothing else, it's related to hockey in an obscure way.

Kidding. But seriously, any recommendations for PH? I'll check Amazon too but I'm always interested in people's thoughts here with regards to music. Where's Shetline? That guy pointed me to some good tunes a while back I recall, as well as (I think) Jonathan.

That's why when Black Eyed Peas asked "Where's the LUV?" I wasn't worried; I have much CD-love in my iTunes Library thanks to the many trip-hopping, ambient mofo's in this here forum. Almost brings a tear to my eye... *sniff*

Massive Attack, Al Green, Kid Koala, DJ Shadow, Santana are all good...I actually have some songs from them. There's some really trippy trip-hop...I can't remember dude's name though...one of the songs is called "Hell Is Around The Corner".

Does anyone here like neo-soul type stuff? Musiq Soulchild is really good, Vivian Green, Res, Bilal, Soulquarians, Goapele, Meshell Ndegeocello, Amel Larrieux, D'Angelo, Jazzfatnastees...probably forgetting a few there. Also Joe is a great R&B singer.

A track I would recommend to everyone is Res "Ice King" ...its a real groovy track and her music is really hard to classify because she takes influences from just about every genre.

If you want some soulful/jazzy type hip hop....check out Pete Rock & CL Smooth...Pete Rock is one of the dopest hip hop producers ever...the group Slum Village (produced by Jay Dee) also has that vibin type feel.

Our old friend "Kate" used to be a Siguir Ros fan, and that stuff is pretty chill, though it's not jazz. It's decent, but a little too euro-weenie for me.

My favorite band of all time, Morcheeba. They are a very chill band. Plus they are available on iTMS. Anything off Fragments of Freedom or Charango should be fine.

    B-Tribe

Spanish fused with ambient beats fused with flamenco...quite sensual, yet soothing.

Check out Godspeed You! Black Emperor...similar layered guitar/strings sound, only with a bit more bite.

I'll throw an extra vote down for both DJ Shadow and Godspeed You! Black Emperor and add Yo La Tengo's "And Then Nothing Turned Itself Insider-Out"-a great album to chill and/or shag to.
