chicago-25 or 6 to 4 is one of the all time greatest songs
you know i've just started listening to chicago (the first 7 albums) after turning my back on them about twenty years ago for becoming love-song mongers.
it's funny how much of my musical taste was defined by these records.
they still sound adventurous and exciting after all these years.
i mostly listen to jazz these days and a 12 year old listening to chicago was a good primer for that. i hear all these references now that i just had no idea then. also their politics at the time influenced me. they were very political, even made nixon's enemies list.
they could stretch out and do long pieces, or just do good songs.
i know that they're considered to be a bit a bit of a joke nowadays, but if you listen to any of the first few albums you'd be surprised.
