I was in a band in the 80s that opened for Spawn Ranch . . . IIRC

Coolness! Is this a band we would have heard of in deepest darkest Australia?

Hell no . . . not even in Santa Cruz, where I lived, were they heard of . . .

(it might have been Glorious Din . . . I really can't remember, though Spawn Ranch seems to be it . . . did they have a guy who played guitar with a drumstick?!?! did they tour the West Coast in the late 80s?)

Don't know about tours? I was neither American nor even teenage in the late 80s (I missed out on the 70s by 6 days).

I can however say this: their musical style is broadly industrial dance/ebm, with slightly grungy and rather poorly played guitars, a drum machine, synths, the odd sample, and some of the most inane lyrics in the industry. It's very much part of the crappier part of the industrial scene from the period... they remind me quite a lot of Front Line Assembly in many ways. I suspect this would fit the picture of people playing guitars with drumsticks (pliers/bandsaws etc.) rather well.

They put out several albums in the early 90s though, which got better as they finally got a clue.

Anyway? I'm now listening to Specimen, Sharp Teeth, Pretty Teeth.

I'm listening to Lenny Kravitz's new album, "Baptized." I absolutely love it. If you're a Lenny fan, don't miss this one.

I think that's "Let's Lynch the Landlord" originally done by the Dead Kennedys. Good cover though. L7 also did a great cover of Blondie's "Hanging on the Telephone".

L7 "Hungry for Stink" is great too. One of the best live shows I ever seen. Met the band once. They are all hittable...
