Since the tech docs have not yet been updated, does anybody know it the combo drive supports any form of buffer underrun protection? (how about the one in the iBook?)
That's something I've been wondering too when people have mentioned it. Anyone have an answer?

I don't like my work space being too confined. I'd rather have everything be smaller and have more space to put Photoshop windows. Furthermore, I'd like to have the option to use a higher resolution if I need it. I just find the current resolution to be insufficient for FCP, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
Let's not forget that equivilent PC offerings have much higher resolutions, and Samsung makes a higher res screen with the Ti dimensions.
Is it just me or did the Canadian prices rise disproportionately against the increases of the American prices? Fvcking Canadians, at this rate we'll be at par with the peso before too long!
"If you purchased a 550MHz or 667MHz PowerBook after they were last revised on October 16, there will be a way to upgrade your computer, an Apple representative told MacCentral. Although full details are not available, qualifying users will be able to upgrade their CD-RW or DVD-ROM Titanium to a combo drive for US$299 in mid-January. More details on where the service can be done will be posted to Apple's Web site when it becomes available."
So what about us Ti 400/500 users? Now don't get me wrong, I won't be upset if I can't upgrade, but it would sure be nice. I don't know if it'd be $300 nice, but it'd nice nonetheless.

I doubt they're going to have an upgrade for the 400 and 500 MHz models.
I read somewhere that the Ti PB 400 and 500 are not upgradeable to the combo drive because it actually doesn't fit. They changed the drive opening slightly in the 550/667.

[jealous]You're all just using glorified iBooks anyway.[/jealous]
Guess you'll have to do your part to help kickstart the US economy and replace those ancient machines.
Sorry...
