Pro Snow Mouse

More pics of the Pro Snow Mouse are avalible <a href="http://homepage.mac.com/michael_m/PhotoAlbum4.html"; target="_blank">here</a>

I have got to tell you this thing is betufful in person! it Matched the iBook perfectly. It is all white and at night there is a slight tiny glow of red.

I made it yesterday by taking my pro mouse and pulling off the clear plactic on the top. I then gave it 3 good coutes of spray paint and then painted the little finger tabs on the side. the who thing probebly took 1 hour for my to take it off, mask out the part I whated to paint, pait it, let it dry, and put it back on.

Hope you like it

Love it! Looks much better now, I think Apple should pay you a handsome fee to use your inventive idea on all new mice! Now all that's left for you to do is buy a piece of very fine sandpaper and carefully brush it, for that lovely tactile feel that the hockey puck mouse had, and that way you won't see the fingerprints any more.

But now you can't see the purty lil' Apple inside it. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

And why is this in Future Hardware?? <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> You think Apple is going to release your mouse or something?

Looks great. I would do it if I had a Pro Mouse but I won't be getting an Apple mouse until it has 2 buttons and a scroll wheel.

How did you get the top off with out trashing it? I have a broken pro mouse so im gonna do that one first

That's really nice, and I'd do it if I had a spare Pro Mouse, but I like how the regular Pro Mouse looks too, so I would want one of each, so I'm not going to do it at the moment.

I wonder if there is a way to do the hack so you could still see the light.

Michaelm-G4 and display album question: Is your room intentionally decorated like an Apple store? Or are you and Jobs just on the same wavelength?

Nice hack. I'd do the same thing, but my Pro Mouse already matches my Pismo.

On a kinda related note, I'm really hoping this much-rumored new iMac is iBook glossy white...and that to it would come with a matching glossy white keyboard and mouse (like Mike's) to set it apart a bit from the clear-glass pro keyboard and mouse.

When the new pro keyboard and mouse were unveiled at the 2000 MWNY (along with the indigo, ruby, sage, graphite and snow iMacs), it bugged me that for the first time in the iMac's life, the keyboard (and mouse) didn't really seem to be a part of it.

The new non-fruity iMacs STILL had that milky ice-colored white plastic to them, but yet the keyboard and the new mouse had that super slick glassy look to them of the G4 tower handles and the G4 Cube (which was also unveiled that day).

I like the full-size keyboard and the mouse is cool and all, but it would be cool if they packaged the clear one with the G4 and produced a more iMac-esque pro keyboard and mouse in a nice, neutral "ice" coloring to go with the iMac.

I guess that gets expensive and gets into issues of supply and warehousing and matching keyboards/mice with certain machines, huh?

At the very least, even if they shipped the clear stuff with all their desktops, it would be cool if Apple sold a replacement kit (or hell, simply some sort of snap-on "shell" or attachment that would better match the iMac).

In any case, we'll see what MWSF holds in just a few short weeks.

thats pretty sweet mike, you are the coolest, did ya ever see that black iMac job, that thing was tight. I would reccommend to anyone thinking of doing this, to use a semi transperant paint, or maybe a touch of silver(very tiny touch)

it would be SUPER leet if you put a silver Apple logo on it, or maybe a silver Logo of your own

I like hte pro keyboard, but after keeping mine in a dusty barn for 4 months or so, it really got perma-dirty, I've gone through 1 1/2 cans of compressed air, but its still not as responsive and easy to use as it first was. I love the pro mouse, though I can't stand one-button, so I gave mine to my mom(she hated the puck)

I actually didn't mind the puck, though my hands are HUGE(probably 9 inchs from thumb-pinky) once you get used to the puck, it was actually a pretty good mouse(though all my anti-mac PC using friends, would NOT stop laughing)

anyway, Good job mike, I love seeing all your art work and mock-ups keep it up

How do you get the covers off these things?

No screws... I don't want to crack the plastic.

I've been wanting to do that to my Logitech Opti-Jr mouse. It's transparent as well and would match my iBook perfectly. Just been lazy

Looks like you wrapped a Pro mouse in a condom. A good condom, though. No crappy latex for our preciouse!
