I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

i'm tired of the PC crap.

It has nothing to do with political correctness. It has to do with taking a beautiful, uniting pledge and turning it into a divisive one. When the pledge was changed in 1954, President Ike made it quite clear that you can't be a patriot if you aren't religious.

"In this way we are reaffirming the transcendence of religious faith in America's heritage and future; in this way we shall constantly strengthen those spiritual weapons which forever will be our country's most powerful resource in peace and war."

And what is your justification for leaving the Pledge as it is? Because it only "mentions" our nation under a singular supreme deity? I'm scared of neanderthal opinions that exclude any other type of religion except monotheism. It's not even religious in the sense that it endorses all religion- just a particular type. If I am Buddhist, Hindu, or any religion with more than one supreme deity, are my Gods even mentioned in the Pledge? No- and neither is a reference to more than one god. So please take your divisive position and give that a bit of "reevaluation."

not in all circumstances. heck, any adult should be allowed to recite (and in some jobs, required to -- like government jobs where allegiance to the u.s. is essential). there is a place for it... i just don't see why that place is in our school system.

i just don't think it's right to have children pledging allegiance to anything they do not, as of yet, understand fully. the older i have gotten, the stranger it has looked to me to see a class of seven year olds droning on about "pledge allegiance to the flag"... i mean, i was a sharp little guy, but i doubt i truly understood the depth of what the heck i was being asked to say.

Actually, Hindus don't give a shit about "Under God" because they accept any name used to describe a deity.

They even include Jesus. They're cool.

Singular supreme diety is bad for our country.

    Bad Dirty Joke Warning:

Cool. Bad example. Polytheistic religions do seem to be left behind in the Pledge though...

i read once that one of the main tenants of the hindu religion was whatever another hindu thought it was "all about" was to be tolerated.

many paths to god and all that.

i thought "hey, that's for me!"

so i picked up this book called "am i hindu" and well, hinduism is just...

well i'll just say, far out.

but i do like the tolerance bits.

one nation, under ganesha the elephant boy, indivisible....

God doesn't have to interpreted as montheistic. cant God include all gods you believe in?

if you don't want to say it, don't. and as for the being ridiculed in class argument. i want to see a bunch of 7 year olds make fun of the kid who doesn't say it. hell, in my class there were a bunch of kids who paid no attention while saying it, not because of their beliefs but because they could care less or were talking to each other.

people make a bigger deal out of things that they really are.....cough...attention whores...cough.
