What are the odds for the cubs fan who interfered?

So, let's here it!

Place your bets. Some people care about soccer to insanity, but Cubs fans would likely fall into the same category.

I feel bad for him. It really wouldn't be a huge surprise if someone killed him. And if not I'm sure people will just make his life hell. THat was really lame of the Suntimes to print his name and address and employer and everything. His life is going to be one continuous stream of harassment. Poor bastard.

I think that error by Gonzelis was what killed them.

But your right he needs to get the hell out of Chicago.

Do people really believe that he cost them the game? Didn't FL score 8 runs in that inning?

OK....I have to weigh in on this one...

Had he NOT gotten in the way...that would have only been out #2. Prior imploded because he was tired and Baker left him in too long. It's not like the guy who was at bat stayed alive and promptly hit the go ahead home run. All he did was drive in a run to make it 3-1.

This is going to be another baseball legend like Bill Buckner in '86. People forget that the Sox were ahead by 3 runs late in that game, and that their closer Calvin Shiraldi pitched like a deer in the headlights. A wild pitch by Bob Stanley tied the game...and it was in the bottom of the 10th that the infamous ground ball happened. If Buckner MADE the play all it would have done was sent it to the 11th. Yet everyone blames Buckner. Just like everyone will blame this poor SOB when it was the Cubs who gacked it up. They had a 3-1 lead in this series. No excuses. I have a friend who is a die-hard Cubs fan, and he agrees with me.

    P.S. I voted for 100% he's toast...only because I know people love a scapegoat

I hope this guy will be alive. Betting on someone death is bad taste, even if he commited a major offense : catching a baseball ball

People...its JUST A F*CKIN GAME. This is ridiculous that we are even having this discussion...and the Fox guys are analyzing it every 30 seconds while covering the game...just shut up already and realize there are more important things in life than baseball. Boo hoo the Cubs didnt make the World Series...go get some players who dont cork their bat and take steroids. Alou wouldnt have caught that ball. Did this guy swing the bats for the Marlins? Its pretty sad when people do this stuff...

    No he didn't.

He MAYBE, JUST MAYBE cost them a chance at an out. That's all. To say he somehow caused the chain of events which happened next is ludicrous. Alex Gonzalez makes big bucks to field double-play grounders hit right to him. Dusty gets paid to make the right decisions. he made the wrong ones. That fan didn't put up an 8-spot in the 8th.

Alou's a good fielder, but that ball was 50-50 all the way. That wall is 8-feet up and the ball was definitely in the stands. Even if he did get a glove on the ball, it's very likely it wouldn't have been clean or would have popped right out.

Anyway, that was Game 6, just like last year's WS collapse was Game 6. The Cubs got outplayed today, fair and square.

Funny how Dusty Baker was involved in both collapses.

He's a good manager...but he has issues when it comes to handling a pitching staff. He took his starter out of Game 6 in last years WS (when the guy was still mowing down Angels) and the Giants promptly spit the bit there.

I plan to be at a bar in Somerville tomorrow to watch Game 7 of Sox-Yanks. May the Force be with us.

I especially like how Aramis Ramirez hit a ball to the exact same spot...and people were ducking and leaning out of the way like it was covered in VD. Classic.

I voted for toast, although I think that it is tragic that people in Chicago are taking it out on him (apparently he has been asked to stay away from his job for 'his own protection'). This was not a case of planned and deliberate interference by a boorish fan, but a case of interference by a fan who did not realize, in the heat of the moment, that this was a playable ball when he saw it coming down. Apparently this guy is a big Cubs fan and feels terrible. And I agree with others here who point out that you cannot lay blame for the loss of the game - much less the series, if this is what it comes to - on this one incident. The Cubs fans who are blaming this man need to get some perspective.

I vote he moves out, and sues the paper that published his contact information for at LEAST a couple of million. There's no way to construe that act except to say they were soliciting a VERY large readership to harrass and abuse him.

It's Chicago, there are better places to live: sue, take the money, and move to a winning city.

I can't believe the paper did that. Totally emotional and irresponsible. All they need is for someone to attack or kill this poor guy and mention they saw his info in the paper.

If anything happens to that guy, the paper could be sued for criminal negligence as well.
