OHMIGOSH, I just saw an ad in a magazine YESTERDAY for some sort of "overactive bladder" prescription medication (that "gotta go, gotta go..." commercial, except it was a print ad for it).
Anyway, there's this little blonde cutie pie sitting on a toilet, looking all sad...WITH AN iBook ON THE FLOOR IN FRONT OF HER!!!
WTF? What is it with Apple laptops and vixens sitting on the john?
I cackled out loud. Then got really confused.
This ad was lame and gratuitious because, unlike the El Gato one that advertised that EyeTV thing that actually WORKS on a computer to let you watch TV, this one had NOTHING to do with computers.
It was just an excuse to show a young woman with panties around her ankles, using a 12" iBook in the bathroom.
Very strange...
I'm going to investigate this trend further and will report back with my findings...
Some lady wrote in to the new issue of Macworld, complaining about the topless woman in the Kensington ad (as mentioned by Placebo). She couldn't take it, I guess. It was just all too much for her tender sensibilities.
With so much going on in the world, a goofy ad (that actually showed NOTHING) was just enough to set her off and make her consider canceling her Macworld subscription.
Those damn principles...
I'm betting she's a barrel of monkeys to hang out with...she probably works the words "oppression" and "objectification" into her daily vocabulary at least four times each.

The other Kensington ad with the guy in the valentine boxers was way more clever and amusing. I'm surprised they ditched that one.
Somebody posted it here. She was blacked-out in the important parts. The hook of the ad was "not leaving home with your important stuff" and she had forgotten - in addition to her blouse - some little airplane-compatible power adapter/recharger for her PowerBook.
She's sitting in an airline passenger seat and apparently can't use her PowerBook.
She's looking all distressed and there's a black bar across her chest region (she has on pants and the rest). But her shoulders and tummy are bare. And she had it going on.
Kinda a goofy, "trying too hard" ad if you ask me. But she was cute and had a nice look to her (brunette short, flippy hair and so forth).

I just wish I had a digital subscription back when they girl was using her PowerBook on the toilet... for Paul's sake.
That one waS for El Gato iTV...and Macworld got so many complaints that they didn't publish it again.
Oh, and remember the risque Kensington ad on the back cover of the last Macworld? It got censored in India, evidently...
