Where the fvck is the fedex guy???? It's 7 pm and it still says by 4:30 today. I've been sitting here all afternoon waiting...
I am in the same boat. Fedex said aircraft mechanical trouble. I called fedex and they said it would be delivered monday. so much for "2nd day". I requested a refund from fedex and they said apple needs to request a refund. pissed
Mine's been sitting in the FedEx Calgary depot for a couple of days with the status of "Released for Delivery". Get it to my house already! Does Apple have some deal with the couriers to deliver it on the 24th? Why would it sit there for two days?
Saturday morning and I am Panther-less. I called FedEx and they say that although their system says it's in town, the package never actually shipped from Apple. So then I called the Apple store and got a recording about their normal business hours and to leave a messge. Damn it. They probably won't even get my message until Monday. I have a dual G5 just begging for an upgrade.
Mine arrived two hours earlier, I installed it and it runs very nicely. The performance, for me at least has increased substantially. Everything just goes along alot smoother. Application loading and hanging seems to be alot less. The general GUI reaction is *much* better, no slugginess for me at all.
My java applications that I have to program for college launch about 50% fast than they usually do.

There is definitely something screwed up. Fedex says it's Apple's fault and Apple says it's Fedex's fault. I don't really care, just get my order to me! Apparently I'm not alone. The lady on the end of the phone at Fedex says she's personally dealt with several of these calls this morning.
So Monday morning and no Panther. I expect to have several more days before I get my hand on it. Hopefully not weeks. How lame. This is only my second online Apple store purchase. It may be my last.
I just called. The plane was delayed due to weather so it's still in TN!! Bastards. It may be delivered tomorrow, they said.
Same thing happened with my order too, I stay in Birmingham Alabama, and mine was delayed due to some plane problem in TN. Hopefully I would get it today.

Looks like I have a similar case: I was all happy to see that my order had shipped on Saturday and had been boosted to priority overnight. But then my tracking number could show no order on the FedEx site so I called. What did they tell me? That they saw the order was from Apple but that there was no pickup so I should call Apple and see what is up. So I tried but was on hold for ages and then gave up for the day. First thing tomorrow I hope this will all be sorted...Maybe they'll throw in a free iBook

Ahh a fellow Canadian. Maybe it's not Apple in general but Apple Canada that is to blame. I was on hold for a couple of hours, which was annoying but since I was sitting at my desk anyway, it didn't bother me too much. Although I was thinking while I was sitting there listening to their "hold music", that I wouldn't be giving Apple high marks for customer service. Be sure to post a message if you get a resolution....

Looks like Apple was in the right after all: I checked my FedEx tracking number this morning and my order showed up! Unfortunately, the FedEx delivery guy missed anyone being at home by probably 20 min at most so I have to wait until they try to re-deliver tomorrow. At least I know my CDs waiting in town for me now.

Lucky you. The status on my package hasn't changed. It still says its in Calgary, but the fedex people insist that they never picked it up from Apple. The saga continues...

Hopefully your saga will be resolved soon. Then you'll get to play the waiting-for-the-courier-game like I am right now To FedEx's credit though, once I found out that they could deliver at any time tomorrow I called and said that someone will only be home until noon and they said they would get it there by then. We'll see.
(As and aside, does anyone know what the FedEx message "Paperwork avail. for non-FedEx broker" means? It just showed up when I punched in my tracking number. Just curious).
Do keep pestering Apple and FedEx though. Sad how often that can actually get results. Oh, and if your credit card has been charged for the order all ready stress this as much as you can.

I got my package yesterday! I got the upgrade disks so I thought it might only let me go from 10.2.x to 10.3, but it let me upgrade my old iMac from 10.1.5. Now I just have to backup my G5 and install Panther there. On my iMac, it didn't install OS9 so I couldn't use Classic until I copied it over from my PowerMac. Is OS9 included? Did I miss an option?
The FedEx/Apple finger pointing got me too thinking. Who was lying to me? Hmmm a mystery that may never be solved

Screed
I was read some BS line that the demand for Panther is overwhelming and that my upgrade won't ship until the 29th!
I actually ordered the Panther upgrade the first day it was announced but the web form wouldn't accept my G5's serial # so I faxed it in.
After going through several phone calls with Apple I was told to cancel my Faxed order and to try it online again which I did.
Now I'm being penalized for Apple's stupid mistakes.
I guess it's not really a big deal, I just would have liked to have it already!
