    It's called Avalon.

    Damn A's.

This is a gallery of images from the actual "Aero" keynote, not the version handed out to developers and seen in this thread. I found it entertaining that as Apple toned down and eliminated some of the translucency in Panther, Microsoft now apparently feels that basically transparent windows are the new way to go.

I do remember plenty of criticism upon Aqua's first unveiling that it was "too translucent." Ahh...

And just for fun, this pic even makes me appreciate Apple's keynote slides.

Those Aero windows must use 13% opacity at most. Congrat, MS, you're drunk with Quartz/Avalon/whatever power!

The last slide is interesting though, if it's showing what I think it's showing. It looks like a thumbnail preview of where you're scrolling to, which is a good idea really. Edit: I take back my positive attitude with this feature because, as I was scrolling through a graphics-heavy multi-page PDF document in Panther this evening, I realized that the feature shown here should be totally superfluous when the whole page renders in real time as you move through even at a million miles an hour. Again, this is assuming I have the correct interpretation of what's going on in that photo. [/disclaimer]

Does this look like a familiar browser view to you? Can't blame 'em. I'm sure they like column view as much a we do, and Windows users will too.

Everything else seems par for the course.

Beleive it or not, almost everything they are saying now, they said with Win XP(not the real interface, and it was!), Win2000/NT5(its original name when it was supposed to come out in late 97), Cairo(which never came out because it was really nothing more than buzzwords)..
