heres a quick and easy explanation

every 9th symbol is the same, 9-81. and no matter what your math says, the symbol shown on every 9th one is the one tha will be shown in the "crystal ball".

heres an example of why it works, lets try every number 40-49:

    Code:

    40 - 4+0 = 36

    41 - 4+1 = 36

    42 - 4+2 = 36

    43 - 4+3 = 36

    44 - 4+4 = 36

    45 - 4+5 = 36

    46 - 4+6 = 36

    47 - 4+7 = 36

    48 - 4+8 = 36

    49 - 4+9 = 36

this works for all numbers, so no matter what, you pick a multiple of 9, and then pick the symbol push the button and be "amazed"

every time you click try again just look at #'s 9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72,81 & 90, the symbols are all the same yeah? the symbols change each time but those #'s will always share the same symbol.

I can be best explained this way: pick 2 numbers 0-9 represent them as k or l. Any 2 digit number is k*10+l. k*10+l -(k+l)=9k. Always a multiple of 9.

You can think whatever you want, but I'm not lying. Do you know what pisses me off more than anything else? People who think they know better than me about my own life.

Don't be that guy. I picked 37 three times, and three times the correct symbol did not come up. It seems weird to me also, but maybe my browser cache went wacky or something. I really don't know.

your math must be a little off buddy

    37 - 3+7 = 27

27 is a multiple of 9, so if you look at the symbol by the #27, it WILL be the one that shows in the circle

The sad thing is I thought it didn't work at first, until I realized my math was wrong. After my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tries all worked I began to wonder and I figured it out pretty quickly.

The most disappointing thing, however, is how slow the crystal ball showing the symbol animation goes on my computer compared to the PCs at work.

Why does Flash have to be slow on a mac?

I read the explanation as to how it is done, but I still wonder how it works. I gave ut 15 tries and it was right each time.

How can you still wonder about that? It's as clear as day now. I didn't get it at first, but after reading that even I can understand it, so everyone should be able to! This thing freaked me out the first time I used it, but now I got it. Life can go back to being normal and I can take of the foil helmet and remove the coat hangers from the ceiling. No one is coming for my brain. 8)

Saywha? It may send you to a ghetto search engine page, but it sends me to a cheesy card trick.

i used to do that trick (with a bit more showmanship, of course) when i was little. preparation: pull out two opposite colored face cards (better if not the same rank). find each one's same color, and put the matches on the top and bottom, respectively. keep the original 2 out of the deck. then: Flash the cards back and forth quickly as you show a small crowd (with more people, its more likely someone actually remembers the suits). put the cards into the middle of the deck. poke and prod the deck mysteriously. then, with the right flick of your wrist, the top and bottom cards stick to ur hand and the deck falls into the other, and the crowd is amazed.

I re-read the explanation and I now understand how it works. I have to admit, if you don't have the explanation of how it works it is mystifying. Once you read the explanation carefully, it all comes into focus.
