I would love to see a dual 1.6Ghz (with PCI-X) at the 1999 price point rather than a 300 dollar reduction on the single

just, i find it hard to spend 1800 plus display on a single processor tower anymore. i know it would be fast enough for me, but, it should be cheaper and if not, it should be dual.

it would be a sweet BTO option though, add a 1.6 processor for 300 or something

You are right all G5 are made for dual.

Perhaps they are stockpiling the 1,6, or the 1,6 are for the IBM blade servers.

Maybe the yields on the 1.6 are low. That is, more G5's are popping out of the factory at 1.8, 2 Ghz.

I think a 1.8 GHz G5 at the $1800 price point with all the features of the duals would be fine right now. Dual 1.6 is asking a bit much.

I still want to see the following by February:

    2.0 GHz - $1800

    2x2.0 GHz - $2400

    2x2.5 GHz - $3000

In 3 months, maybe not so drastic, it took 4 months to slightly change the line up. by Feb maybe:

    1.8 GHz, 8 DIMM slots & PCI-X - $1800

    2x2.0 GHz - $2400

    2x2.2 GHz - $3000

I'd rather see Apple inch their way up with the supplied processors than go 8 to 9 months between updates. If IBM has 2.2's then incorporate them in the line up ASAP. If you just got a machine it hurts less.
