I thought the chirping was just with the dual 2.7's? Who did you use the chudd tools to get rid of it? And how often did your computer chirp?
when I installed developer tools, back with panther on my G5 2.5, it also installed a system pref (thingee, in the system prefs program).. called "Hardware". You just uncheck the box labelled "Nap" and that will kill the chirps. It keeps the cpus running in full power mode always, so it will also increase heat output accordingly. I only started noticing chirps when ambient temps got hot (ie summer) and I re-enabled nap. Some PMs may exhibit this effect more or less noticeably...
wait, what is this thread about? overclocking? ehh, why bother. though I do remember seeing an article with some crazy guy finding the surface mount resistors that would set the multiplier ratio.

So ... am I led to believe that overclocking a G5 cannot be achieved?
Perhaps it can, but I did not see any report about a G5 overclock.
