Thanks for posting the obligatory Thanksgiving holiday thread, iBook.

My first point of action is to wish all of you a safe and enjoyable day / evening with the family-unit and whichever other assorted loved ones you happen to have around.

The woman and I have been cleaning up the house and moving furniture around all day, as her family (14 strong) is showing up tomorrow around 2:00. We've had small family BBQs and such before (5 or 6 people) but never this many. Our home is pretty humble in stature so it will be a tight fit but hopefully a success.

I'm happy for her since her family tends to keep to themselves for the most part. It's good to see them all respond to her invitation. I was worried maybe only her Dad and his wife would come (her mother passed away some years ago), so it's both a bit of a stresser and a blessing that they're all coming tomorrow.

My office is possibly as clean and organized as it's ever been. Looks like a true Photoshop nerd works here. I even have a fresh felt surface on the bottom of my Wacom 2D mouse. (If you have such a mouse and the bottom has gotten all gummed up / tacky, you can order new ones from Wacom Customer Service -- part #PSHA228.) Of course, there's a big pile of bills and unopened mail sitting in my top drawer so I cheated.

Anyway, hope you guys have a great day.

    Cheers,

    Moogs

"Next year there will be 3 of us" is an exact quote of what my wife and I wrote in a special place (kind of like a diary) about 6 months before our first child was born, so your post brought back memories. (Nine years later, we now have three of them - we are still trying to figure out what causes this "pregnancy" phenomenum.)

Big, big, congrats, chu. It's a big change of life, but a great one. A really great one. I wish you and your wife the very best.

Really? I thought that you already had kids? I am losing track of who's who online here. (Next thing you know I am going to be thanking BR for his kind words about religion. )

Congrats to you too Scott - from the other end of the political spectrum, mind you - but big congratulations just the same.

Question: When do you actually eat the turkey during American Thanksgiving? I lived down in the States when I was very young, but it was on an U.S. Airbase and I think that we still celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving with the other Canadians who were also on exchange down there. And I have never visited the States during your Thanksgiving, so I am not up on your turkey thing. So, my question is...do you traditionally eat the turkey on Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday of the 4-day weekend, or does it vary according to the family?

[In Canada, by comparison the Thanksgiving weekend ? early October ? is only three days, with the Monday being the statutory holiday. I think that most eat the turkey on Sunday, to give them time to recover on Monday before going back to work. Because it is only three-days, the Thanksgiving holiday is not quite as big an affair as I understand it is in the U.S. I was surprised to hear that for Americans, this weekend is the busiest holiday for travel - mostly travel home -in the year, surpassing even Christmas.]

I'd like to thank piwozniak (still keeping my fingers crossed for delivery) and all the other AI members. I must say that, 2000 posts later, I'm starting to like this place. I hope you all enjoy your turkey (at least those that are having some) and I hope that the rest enjoy my well meant thanks.
