Are most of these posts what might be called a "strawman"?
The media didn't pick up on it because they had some other hype that they felt would generate more money for them. End of story. The media isn't liberal or conservative, it's just opportunistic. The government isn't Big Brother or savior of the People, it's just a bunch of politicians.
I just mean that someone in a dark, smoky room at CNN decided that the Michael Jackson case would bring in more viewers than stories about domestic terrorists, hence more revenue, hence the lack of coverage of the original topic.
Because if you are going to fight a "war on terror" you had best be consistent in how you define "terror" or you will give the appearance (if not fact) of using the "terror" umbrella to press other agendas. This will lead to wide-spread cynicism as to your actual motives, which will make it harder to fight terror.
OK?
Yes, that's on the money. The "war on terror", as it is currently being trafficked, is duplicitous, arbitrary and is promoting the type of actions that it is in theory supposed to quell. The "war against terror" is more like a "war to create new terrorists". International terror groups didn't have a foothold in Iraq until the war broke out...now all hell is breaking loose, with attacks not just in Iraq but also in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Kuwait and elsewhere which had been relatively calm before the war. The presence of US troops in Saudi Arabia after the Gulf War was a principle raison d'etre for the ongoing al qaeda attacks on US interests at home and abroad during the past decade or more: now it's been 7 short months since the US occupation of Iraq, and there's many people in the region who are furious enough to fight back with whatever means are at their disposal. It is most depressing to imagine how and where this may pan out over the next 10+ years.
There is only one way of ridding the world of terrorism, and that is to work very hard at removing its root causes, namely voicelessness, hopelessness, poverty and unemployment, as well as the teaching of hatred and racism (such as what happens in the Madrassas schools of distorted "Islamic" fundamentalism). Military action is the wrong response to terrorism, altho' it does feel good from a "revenge" point of view to certain mindsets. The best way of rooting out terrorist groups is via skilled and judicious use of the intelligence services combined with good police work. It is impossible to work against terrorism successfully by bombing third world countries into oblivion, destroying their infrastructure and killing thousands of innocent civilians, then engaging in an occupation: (it also doesnt help in the cause to throw tantrums by, for example, exposing a CIA agent whose spouse happens to oisagree with official policy). The "war on terror" is insane and wrongheaded, and this admin. is creating a climate where anger is being fomented, and terrorism thrives. The evidence is there to see, every day. The only conclusion one can logically arrive at is that the architects of the war are on the side of the terrorists.
You mean he's been so bamboozled by you leftist intellectuals that he thinks that someone who disagrees with you in classifying some 3rd rate street gang a terrorist organization must be "confused" and "delusional"?

You're lying and you know it. Al Qaeda and it's local offshoots were actively operating in Iraq and received active cooperation from Saddam.

So how does keeping Saddam and those like him in power address this situation?

That is so fscked up, it's not even funny. Terrorism thrived, because for various political and economic reasons (OIL) it went unchallenged for so many years. In those years these Islamic imperialists multiplied and spread all over the globe. Their network grew and prospered and in some placed managed to overthrow and take over entire countries. (Afghanistan being the most publicized). 9/11 was a wake up call for the US, and brought home old truths that should have been learned in 1945 after confronting Nazism.

Most of the time, including this story, yes - but you can't deny that certain outlets push identifiable an agenda.
Of course, the fact that our media pays more attention to the stories that the majority of people are intersted in is a problem. Sometimes the most important stories are not the most interesting ones.

Can you back this up with a source?

It doesn't...but neither does the current situation in Iraq.

You're on to something when you say that oil is one of the reasons for so much terrorist activity coming from the mid east (the rest of this drivil is utter nonsense)...can you join the dots?

Someone give this man his own theme-tune.
Well, if you're not aapl or PC^KILLA that's cool. They've been banned, so ad-homs are OK.
They were stupid. They had their heads up their butts. They were ignorant, incoherent, small-pizzled never-had-a-girlfriend social inadequates who needed to use hate politics to provoke a response in total strangers because that was about the only way they could be certain of a predictable, controllable response from others, and I had nothing but pity for them all.

Sounds like you really know your man. You must have been really close. Btw, how are the boys at the playground treating you?

No.
The fact that only one of the posts serious suggests that might have clued you into that.
Oh, and discussing the motives of journalism takes a little more than "generate more money for them. End of story."
