As promised earlier in this thread - and due to overwhelming public demand - I was going to post a detailed account of Canada?s political situation and the machinations behind the arrival of our new Prime Minister earlier this week.
Instead, however, I will tell you a different story I heard this week on the radio. The CBC news host was speaking with a journalist attending the recent international conference on the Internet. In response to a question about the overwhelming U.S.-based content on the Web, the journalist said that he did not consider that this was something new, or particular to the Internet.
The journalist recounted an experience being in central Africa a few years ago. Terrible floods were ravaging a great deal of the area. The journalist was watching CNN with others in a hotel lobby. The eyes of those present naturally turned to the images of terribly flooding being broadcast around the world. The only problem was, the images were of a flood along the banks of the Mississippi. Not a word about flooding in Africa, and the hundreds of lives that had been lost.

We don't care about Canada, they are just those northerners who can't bid on Iraqi contracts.

Actually, they can bid on subcontracts. Just not the big ones.
