I don't really know how responsive the corded is since I don't have one, but the wireless is very responsive.

There batteries usually last me 1.5-2 months, but others have reported them lasting a lot longer.

yes, thats the one! i like it a lot. i didnt notice any hand pain with it yet. it's regular size, not mini. the extra buttons can be progammed to do anything, but they'll defn make playing video games a LOT easier. i've been using it to play diablo2, and it is makes the game so much more fun. i dont have to keep going back to the keyboard for certain commands.

hey, i wish money was not an object!! (unless youre sending me some--hehe.) i paid $300 for the scanner and $200 for the printer only 2 years ago. i dont have native usb on my powerbook, so i didnt buy the usb peripherals. (i have since bought a usb cardbus card.) i actually hate my epson printer, and the one i'd like to get is a $300 HP photo printer (i do a lot of photo printing). but my epson scanner is really very good. i need a quality scanner, so i'd rather invest in something decent rather than the $59 variety. a stupid scsi/usb or scsi/firewire adapter is $100, and if it wont work with OS X, it's not worth it. maybe i can hock my existing stuff on ebay to raise money for new peripherals...lol.

Ok, I've played with USB Overdrive in OS X here for a bit. It's great.

Gives support for up to 5 mouse buttons and the wheel, so the MouseMan is fully supported (4 buttons & wheel). EmAn is correct, the thumb button is now fully utilized in all programs (including games) and does whatever the heck you want it to. I set mine to replicate the 'return' key so I don't have to keep moving my hand to the keyboard when I need to do some *click* <return> *click* <return> *click* <return> ... pattern in certain apps. This really speeds me up, not having to move my hand from the keyboard to mouse.

NOTE: if you map a button click to a keyboard press, the mouse button will show up as that key in game control settings. Just so you know.

All in all, it makes the MouseMan that much more valuable (as well as anything with more buttons than just right/left/wheel buttons). Great program.

    Mac's Girl

I had a HP Photosmart P1000 Photo Printer.

    It was great....

But I sold it on ebay and now have a Fuji Finepix NX-500 Photo Printer instead.

This baby only prints photos and is superb. You can print various sizes, stickers and allsorts. I cannot tell the difference between this and regular photos.

Incidentally as I now print the photos on my Fuji Photo Printer, I have a Lexmark z13. Does the job simply and without fuss as it just does basic printing day to day plus it only cost £25($40) and is USB

ok...so i got a new mouse...will give you a run down on the shopping and purchasing...then give you a review of the mouse in a few days after i play with it awhile...

stores: went to compusa, staples, office max and best buy to touch and feel and play with mice...i wish they were hooked up to computers so i could see how responsive they are (at compusa i did replace the white mouse on the iMac with a blue wheelmouse by logitech...i also cleaned up the display and tried to make everything nice and pretty...played awhile with the 22"lcd at 1600 res...damn that is a pretty display...maybe my next toy when i win the freakin lottery)...hard to test the wireless mice since none are hooked to computers...and i really don't need wireless and not sure i really trust it yet...plus it is more expensive....so wireless out....oh, and Mac's girl, couldn't find your kensington mouse at any of the stores, so it was out of the running....sorry.....

microsoft mice seemed too big, plus i hate to give them money except for office....so no microsoft mouse...they also felt a bit cheap, especially for the price they are asking....the scroll wheel had a strange feel...can see where some will love the scroll and others not like....i preferred the logitech scroll....which are the mice i tried next.....

liked the feel of the wheelmouse....the red one's scroll wheel moves nicer than the blue one...and they are the small price, so i recommend people look for the red one if they want a wheelmouse...buttons clicked nicely and the mouse had nice movement....3 buttons total (two buttons and push down on scroll wheel for the third button)...one sensor at 800 dpi...and damn that red one is pretty.. the prettiest mouse out there (other than the white pro mouse)....good feel in the hand, neither too small nor too big....can't go wrong at 30 bucks....

then tried the mouseman dual optical by logitech....four total buttons and the scroll wheel moves very nice (same or slightly better than the red wheel mouse)...didn't like the looks as much as the red wheel mouse, but didn't hate it either, and think that it could grow on me....felt very comfortable in my hand....the fourth button is a small thumb button....have heard people say it is too small, but it seemed very well placed to me....small enough so it is not pushed by accident, but placed so it is easy to hit fast and repeatedly.... nice glide and feel to mouse and all buttons clicked nicely....best scroll wheel for my taste....it is 49 bucks....so the dual is 20 bucks more than the wheel mouse....for that 20 bucks one gets a second optical sensor (both at 800 dpi but only one works at a time...it decides which is tracking/sensing better and defaults to that sensor) and a thumb button and a different design (only righties for this mouse)....

was having hard time deciding (at least i had it down to two mice thanks to all the comments here)...knew i would be happy with either mouse.....but then i was helped with my decision as i looked at the boxes and bestbuy had a opened box of the dual optical....the packaging inside had not been opened, just the box...the mouse looked untouched and was only 27 bucks....so i took it to the front and asked what the protection service price was...for 4 bucks more it would be replaced with a new dual optical if anything went wrong with it for the next ___ years (can't remember right now...getting old :o ).... so for 32 bucks i got the dual optical and will let you all know how it goes.....gonna hook it up right now...bye

Not unless you spend a lot of time in OS 9. If you do spend time in OS 9 (classic doesn't count), then you might as well install it, because otherwise some buttons won't do much at all.

For your time in OS X, I recommend a copy of USB Overdrive X.

Great deal on your mouse, lucky with the open package.

Ender and EmAn....got the dual optical...works great right out of the box...didn't install any software..right and left clicks and scroll wheel work fine...push down on scroll wheel and thumb wheel don't work natively in X...will probably get USB overdrive....the response is great and i no longer have the random mouse arrow flying across the screen that i had with the apple pro mouse...all in all, very happy...the mouse is a bit big, but very solid and not really too big...scroll is nice and the grey and silver grows on you (still love the look of that red wheel mouse)...thanks for all the help...g

Glad to see you're happy. Every time I go to Best Buy, CompUSA, or Staples I'm tempted to get it, but I like having the wireless too much.

usb overdrive rules!!! except for the scary message of "backup your data" and whatnot, this program was easy to download, easy to install and easy to set up...what a wonderful little piece of software....why isn't this standard on all macs?? now have a four button mouse with scroll with all the buttons functional in X...happy boy and man do i love X....companies must quickly make all apps native in X so 9 can go away....have been keeping my old iMac G3 os 9, but think i will soon make all my machines os X...it is just so much better...only complaints are that classic is slow (but if all apps are X then classic can go away) and that iPhoto to iDisk is slow....but hopefully upgrades to the system will address the small shortcomings of X...glad i wasn't a beta tester, and looking forward to 10.2....but 10.1.2 is very nice indeed...just need a driver for my scanner and quark for X and then goodbye 9 forever! i may even forget what a kernal panic is g

So, the question that begs to be asked:

What function have you mapped to the thumb button, and why? (heh, the 'and why' part is what I hate about all the questions my English teacher puts on her tests, so I couldn't resist here. )

right now i use it as a double click...seems silly as double clicking is easy...will asign it a task as i use it more and see what repeative motion i do on the keyboard can be assigned to the thumb button...when i get giants you will have to let me know what i should assign the thumb click for....g

just ordered B&W and Civ 3 for my duaghter....so might wait for giants till i could actually get time on the computer to play...g
