Every child should have the right to be born as a WANTED child. Not as a failure of a contraception method, a result of sudden being too drunk, a miserable try of a woman to 'save her marriage' etc. Thus YES these are cool if it makes that possible.

I don't believe so. Even if those pills were free and condoms etc still cost money.
Those pills have A LOT of hormones. They will maybe not allow the pregnancy to develop, but they must have tons of other possible consequences in body ... (Powerdoc.. know anything of them?? I've never used).
... just wondering if those pills have as well the standard warnings.. "don't take this medicine if you think you could be pregnant" ?
Well from a biological standpoint I don' think there can be any question that a fertilized egg meets the most basic criteria of a "life form", considering that much less obvious forms we've found on Mars are considered to be "evidence of life".
I am looking at the whole thing from the standoing of abortion = stopping a beating heart = murder, etc. If there is no human form, there is no heart, therefore negating many such arguments and taking the whole debate to the level where it needs to go IMO.

Yes these pills have much more hormones. Their goal is not to replace the regular pill. The main side effect is nausea.
Bad move IMO because many desparate women are going to abuse the drug, perhaps trying to abort a pregnancy well after "the morning after". A month after or 6 weeks after for example. Imagine some ill-informed woman not getting the expected result and taking more and more pills to get it.
This is the first thing I thought of. You just know some trailer trash whore is going to be left by her loser boyfriend at 2 months pregnant and start hoofing down bags of these pills.
Or more commonly, a woman will take these say 1-3 weeks after "just to make sure" and mess the fetus up beyond repair, resulting in a badly deformed baby being born.
So, if we take that thinking the other way and put it back on sperm, will I be a murderer/sinner/whatever if I don't put all my sperm in a jar try to keep it alive?
this explains a lot. you don't even know how babies are made.

Yes and maybe someday we will care about whether both the women and MEN want the child.
It's interesting that the pro-life groups are against these pills. The pills don't even "abort," they prevent fertilization in most cases. So they're not just against abortion, they're against contraception too, which would reduce the number of abortions.
I'm not saying make it a huge hoop jumping problem, but what are the issues with taking RU-486 well past the day after?
RU-486 is always taken many weeks after the start of the pregnancy. It is an abortion pill. This Plan B pill is not an abortion pill, it is a contraceptive pill by definition - it doesn't even work if the zygote has been implanted in the uterus. So it cannot end a pregnancy, it can only prevent one.
Yes and maybe someday we will care about whether both the women and MEN want the child.
Maybe one day the reproduction a' la Junior style will be possible. I won't mind a guy having a kid with me as long as a) i don't have to be involved with the process with my body or $$$ and b) i can keep my body and privacy unrelated to the kid - so e.g. the guy can have the kid, but my privacy will still be protected, so there is no way a kid would ever figure out i'd have anything to do with it. THAT is the privacy i'd like.
But there are so many genetically better choises available than me, no allergies, weird indigestion, mind, cultural mixes etc involved.. why would anyone choose me?
The only problem that I have with this (and please ignore this if it has been mentioned already, I didn't read the whole thread very well) is this is going to cut down on condom usage. Being a firm believer in abstinence before marriage I'm not naive, but probably look at things a lot differently than most. I know people are going to have sex, thats the way things are, but most use condoms to prevent pregnancy and STDs, now that there is an easy way to protect against unwanted pregnancy, my guess is that most people are going to stop using condoms which will mean a huge rise in people with STDs. I see a problem here, one that isn't going to be easily fixed. I just wish people were more responsible. As far as the morning after pill goes, I haven't really decided yet where I stand on this. I am pro life, but this confuses me!

I don't think anyone asked for you to be a surrogate mother in the first place, but generally speaking when people get married the weird indigestion is taken into account.

"Most" people will stop using condoms? Nice way to be unreasonable! And we had such a nice streak going too.

i suppose once a baby is born then it is a life and independant?
yet, if you put it on its own it would die in a couple days.
Depending on where you leave the baby. if it gets found, it's put somewhere, fostered etc .. so it will survive.
In law sense I think a kid "does not survive by its own" before it's 18 y old. So a child does not have LIFE before it is 18 y old.

that's a pretty stupid definition.

He is independant earlier, at the age of 5 or six months.
What is the different from an egg (a simple cell) and a lymphocyt cell ? Will you say that the egg is the life and the lymphocyt cell is not ?
Since we have the ability to clone, the potentiality of become an human being by following specific procedures are the same.

I like Matsu's recommendation.

Of course I do. My mommy told me all about the storks and tongue kissing.
