It just eats it a LOT faster. Also someone in Apple discussions ( http://discussions.info.apple.com/We...8@.599de4a2/23 ) said to type "ioreg -l | grep -i IOBatteryInfo |more" and I got 3391 as a value in Terminal. What does that mean, what is the max value, 4000?

Hmm, mine is 4256. Keep in mind that this is a brand new battery. You can find an explanation of what this means here.

Brand new = how new? My PB is around 3/4 of a year old but I'd hope the battery wouldn't start dying that early! Even losing a quarter the capacity would be unnerving.

However Torifile you were right. I have checked again and indeed my battery does just run out at 59%. At around 59% it jumps to zero and dies without warning. Does this mean it's a software glitch? Can I do anything to uninstall this shittacular "Battery Update?" I'm going to re-install Panther hopefully that will fix it. Because I have already run the battery down several times to "calibrate" it.

    Mine is only 3205

When I send in my 1.25 AlBook can I ask them to replace my battery because it's so low?

Brand new as in 5 days old at the time of the post. I was able to convince the GB guy at the Apple Store that the decline in battery life wasn't just simple use but a problem with the battery itself. It sounds like you're having the same problem so I'd try to get a replacement. Go into the store when they're busy and you'll probably get a better result.

LOL. Good call. It's still just barely under Apple Care. I tried holding down Control Option Shift Power and it only give me one extra percent so I guess it is a shady battery. Thanks again for the help. Ast3r3x that sucks that has to be a problem based on torifile's and my battery numbers.
