Windows AIM gets videochat.

So is this running on the same pseudo-standard that iChat uses?

USB webcams suck majorly. Why you would want to use one of these is beyond me.
of course i can see my kids going wild with this too...
i think i will leave the iSight on the computer room iMac and not put one on the computer in the kids room...don't want any "american pie" home videos going out from thegelding household....
i imagine some nasty shit going on with video iChat around the world...sure the commercials will show grandma talking to the grandkids, parents saying hi to the kid at college during finals week, loved ones talking to soldiers abroad at war...but the reality will likely be 95% teens talking to teens and freak sites with half naked people in hamster suits pleasuring themselves....
sigh
oh well, no moralizing from some old dude who calls himself thegelding...that would be almost as sad

My brother streams me DirecTV via iChat when I'm at college.
He hooks up the Camcorder, connects the s-video and audio to the input on the camera, and it converts it, passes it through to the computer and streams it
works....REALLY well.
Let's say my Windows AIM friend with a webcam uses the latest version of AIM and I am using iChatAV with the iSight.
Will it finally working?

There was a mention in my town's newpaper about someone being violated over webcam. Apparently the kid was talking to another kid in England or something and the kid on the other end flashed him.
Was it a girl flashing a guy?
This is bound to happen. Why would you do a video chat with someone that you didn't know anyway? And it's just nudity, no big deal. The human body is beautiful, nothing to be ashamed of.

It's not that bad, and it's much cheaper than £120. Oh, alright then, it sucks.

That's the question. Are there any volunteers here to give this a try?

Okay, I wanted to make sure I wasn't dreaming it, so I asked my friend about the story. Here is the link:
http://www.mi-reporter.com/sited/story/html/151090
"Suspicious circumstances
A boy and his parents told police Dec. 3 that a ``friend'' he met over the Internet and had been chatting with for several weeks began asking the victim obscene questions, flashed him via a Web cam and tried to get the victim to flash him in return. The victim then ended the conversation and told his parents; the suspect is described as a 16-year-old boy from Texas."
I video chatted for two hours with someone on AppleInsider right after iChat AV came out. I can't remember who, it might have been Filmmaker.
Personally, yeah, I have no problem with nudity. I would have taken screenshots and put them on Freenet (haha, kidding). That kid needs to grow some balls.

Yea that never happens in person

I tried green-phoning an AIM beta user over iChat and it was no go. In fact, the phone was sort of faded, somewhat transparent...it was weird.
If the icon is faded, that means the person is already using that service (audio or video chat) with another person. You cannot open multiple audio/video connections; so, that's probably why it didn't work.
