Paul... I think your memory fails you, but maybe I

Buy a sub...stop asking questions and buy.

It's the best you can do for the money.....if not then suffer with those tin cans ...I means balls that they call speakers.

I personally was ready to toss mine out. They sound fairly destorted at high levels. The isub will change that, and make then way better sounding.

    Now BUY THEM

    but maybe you what?

you can try it out yourself... you have an iSub right?

    play a song in iTunes...

hit the mute button on the keyboard and see if the iSub will still play

now un mute it and make the sound go all the way down with the keyboard keys... see if there is a different outcome

try the same with the pref pane...

I don't have my iSub in front of me, but when I set it up at school this year I'm fairly sure I had that problem... it could be the reverse tho... I can't remember...

asterex.. I got my iSub for $40 from the MacZone if I recall correctly... it was a refurb unit and the only one I could find... it was over the summer and I had been looking to get one for a while...

With your help I'll try the mute with keyboard, you may be right.I have a kesington keyboard, and i see no mute Do you know what key it would be ? I'm not trying to be dumb... I just never used mute much, on my keyboard or in preferences.

well... if you don't have an apple keyboard then don't worry about the mute button or whatever...

but what you can do is play with the different settings in the control panel---err preference pane... (gotta love os 9 and earlier)

if you hit the "mute" box on the system sound that doesn't effect the iSub but if you make the system sound 0 manually the iSub should stop... at least thats the way I remember it...

Yeah they have one...I could have swore just yesterday they had it up to put in your email to be notified when it comes in stock, and today it was there (I didn't do the email thing) so I guess I got lucky.

So I ordered one, and here's hoping it works like I want.

Refurbished, but that has never bothered me, my router works just fine, and my pro speakers are open box and sound great (well minus this whole discussion )

I am not looking for house shaking bass, I just hope that the iSub produces enough to fill in the lows in my music. 6in woofer at 20watts doesn't seem very amazing to me, but everywhere I go it says it does and for only $40 I'll give it a go.

    Well it sounds great.

It still plays when something is plugged into the miniplug like expected also. I am just wondering now, is there a way to change the level of the iSub with a key comand so I don't have to go into the sound prefpane? If not, is there any way to set something up to have it do that for me, it would be nice to not have to go into that every time before I play a game.

I was pretty sure you'd be happy with the sound...as far as the key command deal, no idea.\

I just hoped there would be as it seems Apple specifically integrated the iSub into their sound panel.

Does anyone know where the menu bar extensions or a tutorial on how to make them? I believe since apple integrated the iSub volume into it's preferences there should be a system call or something to change it.
