Is this something that could be surgically removed? Is it caused by preaching too emphatically?

    Urban Dictionary returns no results.

    superkarate monkeydeathcar is correct:

: BIBLE BUMP ? A bump on a hand (a cyst?) that will disappear if whacked by a large book ? like the Bible. This wasn?t part of the workshop. Someone mentioned this at lunch. Gruesome.

Now I've heard of the custom of whacking a family Bible onto a lump to "cure it", but not the term "Bible bump". I'm no medico, but I believe that the condition so "cured" is a ganglion that can appear on the wrist (not the hand). Don't ask me what a ganglion strictly is, though.

Doctors don't recommend that treatment anymore. You just put a needle in it and drain it. It's the type of thing a GP can do but these days s/he would refer you out to a "specialist" ($$$$).

yeah my doctor called it a ganglion cyst. and that's when he told me the amusing whack it with a book tale.

i didn't do anything, it just went away.

    Hi Scott -

Try taking Vitamin E twice a day, with food that contains at least a bit of polyunsaturated oil (canola margarine, canola oil, I think, are fairly high in polyunsaturates). Vit. E is oil-based, and so is absorbed via an oil medium.

Also B-complex vitamins might be a good idea, too, for nerve system health. And why not take some Vit. C while you're at it. These latter two, if I recall correctly, are water-soluble, and hence are flushed out of the system within a few hours - so must be replaced by another dose later in the day.

But Vitamin E would be your best bet for a cyst. Women who get swellings (cysts) that come-and-go inside their breasts are told to quit consuming all caffeine, and to take Vit. E twice a day. In case you're wondering, breast cysts make the breasts painfully tender, and make mammograms cruel and unusual torture. The 'no caffeine' and taking vit. E, completely gets rid of the cysts. Weird, huh?

    Good luck. Hope it helps.

    Carol

Sounds like you need to cut off your arm... harsh but effective. I would put money on you never getting a bible bump in the same place again.

Hope you get better soon Scott.

I had such a thing under my index finger. It hurt like the blazes. I was told to rub vitamin E cream on it, and it worked. It took a while though. I am not sure if it was the cream really working or just the action of massaging my finger.

Either way, Im bloody glad the pain's gone and now I have no trouble pulling the trigger.
