You can actually buy more US goods for your Euro right now, if you know how (as my wife pointed out to my during her shopping spree in the States over Christmas).

Now, in my case, I get paid in dollars and have to buy stuff in Euro. Very, very bad.

The Fed doesn't care about the dollar right now, so we'll have to live with this for a while.

It is precisely because we are paid in Euros that it is a problem. If it weren't for the gestapo entry police on the US border these days I would almost be tempted to fly out to the US and get a few there ....

Looks like Apple may be listening to its European customers after all ...

iPod mini outcry prompts price review

Apple Computer is set to review the UK pricing of its iPod mini music player, launched on Tuesday, after complaints about a substantial mark-up for non-US buyers of the device.

    Let's try something.

    Order a $299 iPod, add $20 for S&H = $319, or ?249.

    Add 16% customs tax = ?289.

That doesn't seem so bad, eh?

Add $69 USD for a warranty.

I think a little price reaming is fair exchange for what you have access to there.

And since when is Apple collecting taxes for the goverment?

HELLO! You're forgetting that EU consumers have to pay an additional sales-tax (19% the Netherlands) on top of those prices!

Dell has adjusted its EU prices according to the current exchangerate, why can't Apple?

Jeez, I didn't realise that people in the Nederlands had to pay 19% sales tax. That's unbelievable!

Serves them right for having all the good looking women!

The good news is that Apple has announced that it may reveue the prices of the iPod mini closer to it's launch date - to better reflect the exchange rate.

MacUser UK claims the statement was made by Greg Joswiak, VP of hardware product marketing - but it's unclear whether they're going to rethink just the UK price, or the whole of the EU.
